Another beautiful pair. The mirrored veneer pieces on the sides are stunning.
And looking at these, I'm wondering if I should have gone without the baffle. Not having the baffle on there really shows off the woodwork. Jim, is there anything lost by going baffleless?
In this case, the baffle extends to the bottom of the cabinet. So there is no diffference in performance. There is, however, a difference in cost as hardwood trim must be added to the edges of the cabinet that are rounded over. This means the edges have to be routed, the trim wood needs to be purchased, milled and sawed to make strips of the right size. They then must be cut and glued into place. Finally, they need to be sanded level with the veneered faces. This adds about $300 or more to the cost of a pair of speakers.
But it that is what is wanted, we have no problem doing it.
