USB Type A Connectors
« on: 6 May 2010, 07:27 pm »
Anyone know of a good source(s) for USB Type A male connectors? Ideally I would want the following specs, but I will take all suggestions:

- Copper pins, silver plated.
- Solder type pins.
- Teflon dielectric.
- Black hood cover.

He probably meant http://www.spacecraft.com/index.html

I don't think they have USB though.

Ok, can you send me a link of a connector that meets even 1 of my 4 criteria?

Or this: Space Shuttle Hi-Tech Co., Ltd, http://www.spaces.com.tw/
But they appear to have complete cables, not components.

Norbert, to my knowledge there are no USB type A or B connectors that meet your criteria available as an off the shelf component.
Here is what I found for connectors that have solder-able pins.

I agree. You will be limited to just gold plated contacts and solder pins.

I bought mine from Mouser;
USB offerings

I ended up using several layers of heat shrink to shroud the raw USB connectors when I built my 5 meter silver plated copper/teflon USB interconnect for my DAC. The Mouser offerings work great.

Yup, that's what I thought unfortunately. What about a black cover hood? Any sources for those? I see plenty of off white hoods available...

I'd suggest calling a furutek dealer or distributor and asking whether their USB connectors will be available for individual purchase.

I believe the shells are metal and nickel or chrome plated.
