What to look for 'under the hood' of a 30 year old 4B?

Thanks James - as I didn't have a Bryston box I drove down to Wilmington, DE to the authorised dealer 1st thing this morning, and they'll forward it on to VT.

Just got word my 4B should have just 'gone up on a bench' at Bryston, hope nothing major found.

Can't wait to get it back, just got my CD player today, so all the main pieces in place for my 2-channel system, but with a substitute amp in place for the moment.

Close - got repair quote today, with labor and shipping, it's about 4/5ths what I originally paid. Still, it's only about 1/4 what a new 4B SST2 would cost me. And when I'm ready to move up, I can sell this one and be able to say it was serviced correctly.

Don't know v-dave, I expect it back by end of next week, the invoice will give me the specifics. All the local dealer found out was that all caps got replaced.

Just picked it up, popped the top off, new caps throughout, got the latest update for a 30 year old unit.

And here's a nice touch, whoever owned the unit in the past cut down the feet to nubs, it returned with 4 new feet.

Nothing huge there, but I hadn't asked for it to be done, (though wondered if it could be, as it was impossible to get fingers under it before to pick it up gracefully).

Now to give it an hour to warm up, and let it rip!
