Be careful what you wish for on the DAC front. My impression is that this is an area making significant strides in component improvement. And a lot of exciting DACs coming to market these days. Some may be FOTM, others may be keepers.

i've heard a lot of relatively recent stuff, including modded squeezebox, top stuff from empirical audio, resolution audio, electrocompaniet, etc.  nothing so far to better my humble modded art di/o.  so, no reason to be careful what i wish for, in this case.  a significant improvement in digital audio for something less than the cost of a nice used car or motorcycle, and i am interested.

I think it has gotten the better of all of us at least once and will likely happen again at least once more. I'm a firm believer in the saying "Never say never."
