A few of Jim Smith's recommendations/ideas follow:
1. He has a detailed procedure to voice the stereo system using the Chieftain's Tears of Stone CD, stating that at specific sections of songs, this is what you should hear. Then he outlines how to fix your system.
2. He stresses getting the system oriented focusing on the 20-300Hz bands, as this is the area that has the most room problems.
3. Not a big proponent of spending money on 'optional equipment' and expensive stuff until I get the basics solved.
4. Does not like 2.1 systems, as it is very difficult to integrate the Subs with the L/R speakers.
etc, etc, etc.
A good read. I'll keep you updated as I continue applying his principles.
