Why?
Hello vegasdave

A most interesting question, please permit me to acquiesce…
As I have mentioned in previous posts; enjoyment of music is essential for me - an escape if you will as it temporarily vanquishes the multitude of voices and I experience a brief, but fragile peace. You close your eyes and you find that you exist in a vacuum.
Beside the emotional and intellectual significance of our favourite music genre; how audio components reproduce our music is also of great consequence. In my circumstance, Bryston, Esoteric and JBL are the correct components for my Xanadu. My audio system may not be the right fusion for other audio enthusiasts and I would not have any issues with this - I respect their right to select what is best for them. In VOLKS’ situation, his system evolved to a higher level for him by replacing some Bryston equipment with McIntosh components. Why can we not be very happy for, and congratulate him or other individuals who seek their separate path to audio nirvana. Suffice it to say that most of us here on Audio Circle have invested a great deal of time and financial resources on our own personal quests.
Why do some individuals become upset when someone selects or prefers “Brand A” over “Brand B?” Competition between audio manufacturers is the primary reason why we are enjoying the current level of audio performance from our equipment today. Remember about the “better mouse trap?” If Bryston had no competition and was the only audio manufacturer on the planet, you could be rest assured that the quality would be nowhere near what it is today and you would definitely not have a twenty year warranty. Please understand where I have went with this example.
I have always subscribed to the philosophy that an open mind will always inspire new avenues to explore and am very much looking forward to seeing VOLKS’ new set-up; McIntosh equipment has great aesthetics. Would you not agree that VOLKS has assembled a most awesome audio system?
I believe you to be exceptionally passionate about your Bryston audio equipment vegasdave and it is most commendable; I am happy that you have found your audio nirvana. Should we not have the same level of enthusiasm for our kindred audio enthusiasts regardless of what type of equipment they have on their racks?
I most certainly do.
Be well…
