Congratulations on the victory, Canada.

The Capitals' top three (Ovechkin, Semin and Backstrom) are now out of the games and can rest.  Mike Green was bypassed by the Canadian team.  So the 4 50 (already) pointers should be well rested (and hopefully motivated) when the NHL season resumes.

For friday's Gold Medal semifinal round, NBC will have USA-FIN coverage starting at 3pm EST. CNBC will cover the CAN-SVK game at 6:00pm est with a slated 6:30pm starting time.

mnbc will have the Women's Gold Medal game between USA-Canada. Coverage starts tonite at 6pm est and for DirecTv viewers will not be in HD.

I'll be cheerin for the USA but I just have to mention Drew Doughty. The youngest player (20) on the Canadian team who was expected to only play PK and PP. He is now 2nd in ice time for all Canadian defenseman.

I suggest you watch him closely because you are seeing the early stages of a generational talent. If he were playing for one of the Eastern NHL teams or a Canadian team he would already have star status.

The US had a great time beating up on Finland.  Most of the US chances went in early, just as with the Canada/Russia game that makes for a smooth win.

Canada opened well against the Slovaks, and held on to win.  Lots of chances just over the bar, or posts etc.

For the game tomorrow at 3pm, I expect outrageous atmosphere, excellent goaltending, and a great game either way.  Best of luck to both squads.

Hopefully the HOT US goatending will continue and the young guns like Patrick Kane will lead the US to victory!  This is shaping up to be a classic duel! 

I normally like our friends to the north and I'm a fan of several Canadian NHL players, but tomorrow I'm making an exception!  Screw Canada!  USA! USA! USA!
