I built an oak with cherry finish that holds about 1,000 cd's. Will take a couple of pics tonight and send it to you later or tomorrow. 6' tall and 3' wide. I used 6" red oak and the cherry finish turned out very nice. Got the idea from a friend that had one built - he paid $250-300 as I remember and I diy'ed it for about $120 a couple of years ago. Lumber has gone up but got some rough to do another one. Yes I filled the sucker up and then some.
Here's a thread on a group buy for audio "furniture".......might be of interest...there are CD racks included... http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=77093.0

I built this last winter:It holds about 1,000 CDs but I designed it sturdy enough so that I could build a matching hutch to go on top of it and hold another 1,500-2,000. It was a fun project! No screws or nails and very little glue!
