Zu party in St. louis?
« on: 24 Oct 2009, 04:18 pm »
Hey fellas,
Ron from Zu contacted me and asked if we'd be interested in a Zu tour.
Here's what he had to say:
====================

I am in the process of setting up the 2010 ZU Audio Home Party Tour and was wondering if you thought your group might be interested in getting on the tour schedule and letting ZU throw a party in your area. It give folks a chance to hear our speakers with a wide variety of hardware and system solutions.

We have had several very successful parties and are getting ready for our largest to date in Atlanta. This is a music (social) party, and we are finishing the evening with Live music performance. It looks like we have around 60 folks attending.

Ron

So there you go.

Sounds like a great idea. I'd love to hear their speakers. It's going to take a big room.

Guys, you may want to think multiple rooms.  We typically do 2 or 3 demo rooms and show the versatility of the speakers.  We have the Definitions IIs, Essence (now on the cover of Stereophile), and a new speaker that will finally get us below the $2000.00 a pair price barrier... an please invite "newbies" and wives!  This is a PARTY event!

Scott, you just hit 3,000 posts.
I think that in itself calls for a celebration at your house.
In fact, we could fire up some tunes while we're there.
I'll bring the unfrosted blueberry Pop-tarts and beer.

I missed Scott's party, Gavin's party, and the Emotiva party, so I'll cut across the grain and make this one. Heck, I'll splurge and get a sitter for Liam, too!

Hiya Guys,

Looks like we are on for a Zu Party.  :thumb:  After talking to Ron, this should be quite the shindig.

The next steps are trying to figure out when the best time is to have it. As we all know, our winters are completely unpredictable when it comes to snow and ice. Though we don't have it that often, when we get an accumulation it is nearly impossible to get in or out of my place. The holidays are quickly approaching too. Heck, its already Halloween. Next thing you know we'll be saying Happy New Year to each other.

Obviously Ron would like to have as many attendees as possible. This last party we had 46. In turn we utilized both the front and back decks for overflow but for that we need reasonably decent weather. If its a little chilly, I can get a couple of those patio heaters you see at the restaurants which would work reasonably well. Also, Laura and I are planning a fairly major addition to the house but we've been holding off since the economy looks a bit weird. The addition would add a fair amount of capacity. If we did that, it should be complete by spring. I'd love to say that we are definitely doing the addition to the house and invite 60 people but we haven't quite made that decision yet.

I'm going to noodle on this a bit and try to figure out what the best time of year is to host the event. If we do a dead of winter Party, we would likely only be able to handle about 30 people. If we schedule it for nicer weather, say in the March or April time frame, we could add another 15 to that total. If we do the addition you could add another 15 to that total.

Oh, it also sounds as if we will have a live performance by a named act at the event also. Who it is will depend on when we have it. Also, the possibility of a performance is based on the number of people attending. The more people attending equates to a bigger promotional budget for Ron (economics come into play).

The other issue is parking. This time we may run a shuttle bus/van back and forth to a local lot. I can get a van and have one of my youngest daughters friends to play chauffeur running people back and fourth during the day for little or nothing. It will make life easier for everybody, me included by keeping peace with my neighbors.

Anyway, just wanted to post some rambling thoughts on the Party. As things progress over the coming weeks I'll be sure and post.
