Minty 1966 first US stereo press of "Sinatra at the Sands."  I have a nice 1966 mono copy too but this stereo version is great!

Bought this.......most of you probably don't even realise it was released back in 2014, I didn't! They don't get a lot of press these days but boy they still do garage/grunge better than most. This is a double vinyl, 22 songs, all good, some downright great! Overall, a cracker of an album! :thumb:

Now THAT'S a different kind of Ellington lp!
His jacket notes indicate an attempt to tell the story of the "Negro" experience related to skin color-  hence "Black, Brown, and Beige". It's almost a ballet looking for choreographer.  I'd call it a flawed attempt at a grand idea, and something that only Ellington could have attempted.  It's innovative, yet still big band-ish.  Mahalia has two numbers reflecting the importance of church in the American black experience.  She is stunningly good.
Well recorded, fine solos, inspired at times.  It's a nice addition for any Ellington fan.

Back in the late 70's/early 80's there was a movement of high quality vinyl, of which, Sheffield Lab was one of the leaders.  I remember hearing this demo'ed at the local hi end store and being gobsmacked.  Direct to Disc.
It's still an excellent recording even if not the most inspired music.

NM copy of Lee Morgan's The Sidewinder on the Liberty label.  Good deal at twenty bucks.  Can't wait to compare it to the new repressings.
