New Room with Pics
« on: 28 Sep 2009, 04:21 am »
Hey guys- as i've mentioned, been working with Rives on a L1 design for my large living room.

Just about 90% there and a big thank you to the GIK folks for assisting on the Art Panels (and some other panels in the room).  The ceiling tiles i just had installed really complete the picture---we're talking big change here.  I would highly recommend folks experiment with them.  In my case, i'm using 4 diffusion/absorption tiles and 2 pure absorption tiles in the rear.  It may have more of an impact because of my 8.5' ceiling---which is on the low side.

In the front of the room, you can see 4 huge poly diffusers---and a Rives bass trap.  i wish i had room for another bass trap...but have too many open spaces into this room.

The back of the room in incomplete---as i'm taking a break.  but i am going to add 2 more bookcases and a rug at a later date.  i wanted to get all the construction items done for now (i used a carpenter)

As others often talk about here, this has literally been the biggest upgrade to my system with the exception of speakers (which interact with room, so makes sense).  I heard a 50k system a couple of months ago which paled in comparison to the sound i'm getting with a little pair of Dynaudios and BAT integrated.

Cheers,

KeithR

Congratulations!

It looks great. Very classy. I am sure it sounds as good as it looks.

The ceiling is an area that I have not devoted enought time to consider... Thanks for the reminder

What are the products that are both diffusor & absorber on the ceiling

Wow!!!    :o aa

Very classy looking room.  I like the 4 poly diffusor panels on the front wall.

Who makes the ceiling tiles?  For the combination absorption/ diffusion tile on the ceiling, is it similar to a RPG bad panel?

thanks.  the ceiling tiles were custom built.  they are basically RPG bad panels done custom---you can get the diffusion templates direct from RPG.

Congratulations!

25' x 24'---so pretty squarish.  hence the reason for a lot of absorption in this room.

sure-- i have a few pics up close at home (that i sent to Frank actually).  they take up a rather large wall in the back of the room which is very nice aesthetically.  i'll put them up tonight in this thread.

Beautiful space sir.
I love the color scheme and wood floor.
Do not underestimate the C1's... they can play with the big boys.

C1s really sound incredibly natural.  i might add a JL Audio sub to augment some of the lower end, but i am even more pleased with the C1s after treatment.  the only other types of speakers i would go to are Wilson Sashas, maybe Magicos etc---which are just out of reach money-wise.

i have thought about C2s or C4s---but C4s are not great looking, and the C2s aren't a true 3 way which is a requirement of mine.

thanks,

Keith
