I am going wideband in my new car.. the driver will be from H-Audio..
The issue that you are going to run into.. if going wideband in a door.. image placement and height would be almost impossible to obtain.. now if you did a set of tweeters say playing 12kish and up at a steep slope then I'd say that you would be heading in the right direction as the tweeters will help with stage height.. But would not IMO be ideal since the reason to go fullrange is to eliminate point sources.
If you want something simple.. just go a traditional 2way and play with phasing to get good focus... as it will take processing and going active to truly make it super nice and obtain full coherency.
Yes, my sponsor is Zapco and has been for a few years.. awesome amps.. specially the ones with built in processing.. And yes Josh has been a dealer for along time.. and his shop is beautiful.
let me konw what other questions you have man!!!!!! aa
Well here is my situation: My car is a mazdaspeed 3. I have a pioneer avic f700(double din with nav) head unit and I have a Concept 350W 2 channel amp that Im not using. I wasn't planning on doing subs in this car, so this amp was for some nice speakers. If I go the route with the fostex and t-amp, I could use this amp on some 7" woofers in my back doors tunes as subs. Thought this might be interesting to try.
So in order to go individual drivers, I would need another amp. And I have a feeling that would end up costing more because most good amps costs more than a crossover.
I have done a lot of car installs. The only thing I haven't done is elaborate fabrication like building a new dash out of fiberglass. And I was wanting ~1" silk dome tweeters because I think they sound the best and so they will fit in the door sail.
Is that zapco sponser the company that makes amps? I know Josh at JML really pushes those amps. You ever been to his showroom in fenton?
