Well, there's only 1 way to find out...play it!

I would like to play it - but the CD player is most likely in a shipping container at this time :banghead:

Be well...

Interesting...since I brought home the new system, I have watched broadcast TV for only a few hours. We still enjoy a DVD movie on a Saturday evening.

Simplicity speaks volumes? I cannot help but to admire the aesthetics of Bryston audio components. The only indication that I require from my system is four green LEDs 8)

Be well...

The way the amp LED's go green to red is really 8) 8) but hard to do especially with the bigger units.

Hello vegasdave,

Not as of yet, I was told that it could be over five weeks for delivery :bawl:

Hello b5pt9,

I have seen this happen only once on the JBL 1400/28B combination during the demo :o :o :o
I can assure you that I will never be able to recreate this feat in my listening room :nono:
I want to keep my hearing the way it is :D

Well that sucks! It's backordered, true?

Good luck!

The CD that surprised me the most for poor audio quality was Boston, Third Stage. This really caught me off guard because it sounded pretty good on my previous system. There was just "no life" in this CD at all and I am curious if this is a result of poor dynamic range in the CD - truly an "ear opener."

It's probably the cd. One thing I noticed about Bryston equipment is it is very "truthful" in its sound. It will "tell you like it is." It doesn't make everything bad like a lot of high end systems, and it doesn't color the sound like a lot of high end systems.

Might also be recorded with reversed polarity.  Reverse your speaker leads and give it another listen.

I didn't think of that. Thanks.

A lazy Monday morning - what to do? Well, I guess that I will kill some time and check my e-mail. "Ho hum," reading, reading, "your Esoteric is in with your cables," reading, reading." Wait a moment - what was that???

Take care of the little things?

I picked up my Esoteric X-05 today and I was extremely impressed with the engineering that Esoteric put into packing this unit. Ever get one of those wooden Russian dolls when you were a kid for Christmas? You would open the first doll and then you would take out the next doll and repeat this process four or five times until you reached the tiny doll.

Well, the CD player was packed in three heavy-duty cardboard boxes. The second and third box had their own foam suspension structures. The CD player was also double wrapped by protective membranes.

Truly impressive...

long time ago I got to hear the JBL 4350 monitors...2 track early generation WB master tape of the Doobie Brothers via Crown 722 reel to reel to Crown IC-150 to biamped Phase Linear700s to the 4350's aa...if only they would bring the DD66000 to the USA.

Hello Wallacefl,

I use to listen to my music, now I live it!

The only thing that I can say is that JBLs are perfect for my taste in music. I have never being more happy with my JBLs - end of story. They even still surprise me now and then. I searched for about a year for a new pair of speakers and when I auditioned the Project Arrays - I knew that they would end up in my system (ironically, I never knew that JBL existed before this - talk about a newbie, eh?).

Ah...to each, their own

Be well...

The last piece of my audio tapestry (Esoteric) for this year was installed in my system today...

I was listening to Persephone earlier this evening and I unexpectantly caught myself smiling like the Cheshire Cat. For individuals with an appreciation for Gothic music, Persephone is a most haunting vocalist and her music is deeply profound - you get lost in her lyrics. I realized at that moment in time, this system, which was conceived less than a year ago, has surpassed my wildest expectations not only in its audio performance but aesthetics as well.

I used to listen to my music, now I live it.

The Esoteric X-05 has greatly raised the proverbial performance bar of the JBL/Bryston combination. The audio richness and detail that this CD player presents is simply stunning - I am truly at a loss for words. I have said this before and I will say it again, the delicacy and detail of the Bryston 28B mono blocks are incredible. The JBL 1400 Project Arrays have made this system what it is.

It has been a most enlightening journey, I have met many interesting people and unfortunately, far too many audio dealer snobs, dressed in starched suits that were blinded by their obtrusive, preconceived, stereotypical attitudes who could not see past the ends of their collective noses.

So, what is in store next? I must forge ahead and complete my stereo stand. Next year I hope to pick up a turntable - another learning curve ensues?

As for now, I am going to sit back and relax, put my feet up, and enjoy.

Be well...

I believe the DD66000 is available here in the US. Price is around $60,000.
