I'm building a bottlehead s.e.x amp and would like to have a better idea of what is getting wired to what so I'm looking for a verbal description of the 6dn7 pinout as all I can find online are graphics.

Thanks,

Jim

Not sure what you are looking for but most data sheets have a verbal description under the pinout diagram, example:

Bill,

That PDF is a scanned image, not text, and being a blind person who is using a screen reader to use his computer, the scanned image does me no good.  Unfortunately, 99.9999% of all tube data sheets and schematics are graphics and scanned images.

Jim,
Here you go:

Pin 1 is grid (section 2)
Pin 2 is plate (section 2)
Pin 3 is cathode (section 2)
Pin 4 is grid (section 1)
Pin 5 is plate (section 1)
Pin 6 is cathode (section 1)
Pin 7 is heater
Pin 8 is heater

Best,
Ed

Thanks, Ed.  Any idea which section is the signal triode and which is the power triode?

What's your new speaker project?

You have to try the new genalex n709/el84s in your amp someday -- phenomenal!

Jim,

Section 1 is low power signal triode and section 2 is the high power with a plate dissipation of 10 Watts.

Thanks, Mike,  Don't know what I'd do without all you guys.

BTW, this is a very cool kit, extremely well documented and lots of room for tweaking and experimentation -- guess that's why the call it an "experimenter's kit". :-)

Jim,
I'm not sharp enough to answer that question, but this is what the scanned doc. say about the two sections:
Section 1 is vertical oscillator service
Section 2 is vertical deflection amplifier

Hopefully that answers your question, if not I can pul additional info off the sheet.

I am currently looking into Danny's (GR Research) new OB.  It will be a bit before I can pick up the entire package but I an considering picking up everything but the bass units now.  97dB sensitivity should get me into SET territory which would be cool.

I guess your sex amps are for the horns?  I will be interested in your findings.

Best,
Ed

edit, I see Mike (someone who knows what they are talkng about) already answered your question.

Ed,

I'll surely use it with the horns, but eventually the destination will be the bedroom where it will serve double duty as a headphone amp and drive that pair of zigmahornets I'm building.  Another couple afternoons in my buddy's shop and they should be ready to play -- except I have to wait for Bud to do the polka dot thing to the drivers.

Thanks again for your help,

Jim

OK, Gotcha Jim.

Sorry about that! Did not know that was the issue.

Enjoy the build!
