My friend just got a pair of Super 6 XRS and IMO the Manley Stingray sounds great with those. Any quality EL84 push pull amps will sound very good.

Based on my experience with the 8" Alnico drivers in the Omega Revolutions, I can heartily recommend the following amps:

Atma-Sphere M-60's or MA-1's (I am sure the S-30 would also work very nicely)
McAllister PP-150
Audio Mirror SET (45 watt version)
Bella Extreme 100's
Pass designed XA-J DIY Class A amp
Pass designed Aleph J DIY Class A amp

Budget? What associated equipment do you already have?

Louis is finishing-up my Super 8 monitors and I will most likely use it with my Aura Audio (all in one unit - integrated with USB) or Glow Amp-1 (tube integrated with USB) in my bedroom rig. RWA is another good matching amp as well as some low powered SET amps.

Answer to above asked question by Alwayswantmore would help  - budget will be driving force behind any recommendation.

Hello and thank you for your answers,

I have already an amplifier Glow model 2008 and one reader Cd Philips 723 tweaké by a specialist in the kind (Christian Blérald).

I get information to have the opinion of anybody and to know if I can find an amplifier which would join still better Omega Super 6 XRS.

It is for a future purchase as soon as I save the sum of more or less 1.300 dollars.

I live in France, I am thus with the search for an amplifier whose I can make the purchase on Internet (of preference) or that I can contact the company and who can send it to me as for the Omega.

Thank you by advance.

We run one pair of Omega 6" alnicos with a manley stingray and one pair of 6" Omega alnicos with a dynakit st-70 by Bob Latino. Both sound great and can be purchased at the budget mentioned. ( A new Dynakit and pre-amp or a used stingray can be had at audiogon for roughly that amount.) Both put out the same power, 22 and 44 watts depending on the setting. The stingray uses 8 e84l's and the Dynakit 4 el-34's.

Keep us posted, eh?

Hi everyone,

Great choices and I'll throw this one in.

The Leben EL-84 amps is an amazing combo.

SS amp is the Bluenote S1. Integrated with phono and remote $1375.

I have a set of Melody 300B monos and hope to get them running soon. need to redo my soundroom because of the fire.

Thanks,
Louis

Say Filetta;

I would look into the Bottlehead Corp. amplifier kits as they have them available for your voltages now, and they sound superb driving Omega speakers. I have the Super 5s at present, driving them at first with the EL84-tubed Glow Ones...... Soon I will be driving them with a 300B amp of Bottlehead design. Auditioned at VSAC last year, this amp makes glorious synergy with the 5s..... and will be even better with the Alnico version when that comes out. Great tight bass, beautiful focused midrange, and extended highs. My deux centimes....... with affection for your homeland, la France profond.

Cheers, Hank in Eugene, OR

I use the Omega Super 3 XRS, although still with the original Fostex drivers.  They have the same 93dB sensitivity as the Alnico Super 6 XRS.  I'm very happy with the 5w/channel I get from Roger Modjeski's (Music Reference) EM7 SET amp.  The standard EM7 comes at 2.5w/channel, but you can get a 5w version, or even 10w/channel by using a pair set up as as monoblocks.

FWIW, a 5w version just sold on Audiogon for $650.

These amps are lovely.

I like the bottlehead amps very much and have heard the 2A3 with the preamp combo on all my speakers. This setup drove them great and definetly a bargain.

Thanks,
Louis

Hi all: For those people interested, Shindo has come out with a new integrated amp: the Apetite - http://pitchperfectaudio.wordpress.com/2009/05/27/take-the-plunge/. 15watts, 6v6 push-pull, 3 inputs, all green. If I didn't already have my two, I would definitely be looking to use this baby with the Omegas...
best,
Jonathan
p.s., I am not associated with Matt/PitchPerfectAudio - Like Louis, he is a class act and super helpful! jdk

Hi JDK1,

Thanks and this amp looks great. I like 6V6s too. I wonder how much it costs.

Thanks,
Louis

The 6 XRS speakers are wonderfully well balanced and should mate well with many different amps, tube or solid state.  I don't think that you have to worry about trying to warm them up by using amps of certain pedigrees, unless of course you want to.  I have had success with an Art Audio Carissa and a Yamaha receiver.  Two very different amps at two extremely different price points, and each worked well with the Omegas.

Greetings all,

I purchased a pair of Super 6 XRS last January. They sound really sweet  with my  El34 Tube Integrated amp from Decware. It's only 12 Watts, which is plenty for what I listen to, jazz and classic rock. Female vocals are amazing.

Cheers,

Gregx

Hi Gregy,

I agree and this tube sounds great. I also heard great things about the Wright EL-84s.

Thanks,
Louis

Hi all,

6" XRS just got very positive review in Finnish audio/lifestyle/etc. magazine IWA (www.innerworldaudio.com). The reviewer tried lots of different amps, including ss and tubes (Lavardin, Shindo Aurieges/Montille etc.) and came to a conclusion that a good 300B SE DHT might just be the ticket..although he found nothing to complain for example Shindo/Omega -combination.

I think he bought the review pair.. aa. I'm quite sure also that he listens his Shindo Latifs much less from now on .

Has anyone heard the Audio Note OTO SE integrated with any of the Omega hemp Alnico designs?
