Nice. They still have firewire. Maxing it out with a 2.26 GHz C2D processor and 4 GB of RAM would make it a great little server.

While updates are always a cause for concern for somewhat-recent purchasers like myself, I'm somewhat glad to see that my iMac is still keeping pace with the new models. Not that I have any issue with mine but its just nice to know.

New Minis look nice...finally ditched the Combo Drive! The Mac Pro continues to be a beast but it appears that they no longer offer the 15,000 RPM HDD.

Nice...

I just wish it would run a 30" monitor...

That and the 4gb update would be all i'd ever need

You can buy the $599 model and add a 500GB HD and 4GB of Ram for less than $200 price difference between the models. Thats my plan.

Cool.. I think. Are these much faster than the old one?

Is the only difference the amount of memory and the HD size?

Isn't it a PITA to open up this thing?  I saw a video of this w/ the older model and it wasn't very simple.

No, you just need to stick in a putty knife and it pops right open. It looks harder than it is. You don't even have to bother unscrewing any screws.

Not by much according to these benchmarks:
http://www.primatelabs.ca/blog/2009/03/imac-and-mac-mini-benchmarks-early-2009/

The CPU changed from Core 2 Duo T7200 (Merom 65nm) @ 2.0GHz to Core 2 Duo P7350 (Penryn 45nm) @ 2.0GHz.
The L2 cache is decreased from 4MB to 3MB, but the front side bus increases from 667 to 1066. The main advantage is lower power consumption due to the manufacturing process.

I know that Apple uses components made from the powdered bones of unicorns, but this seems egregious even by their standards. Am I missing something here?

Apple tax: With a Straight Face, Apple Charges $200 for 1GB of RAM, 200GB of HD Space in New Mac Minis

It should run cooler too (which is where much of the power savings probably occurs - less heat waste), but I can't find any specs on heat output of the different chips.

what does the poster mean when he says that he wishes it would run a 30" monitor?

with a display port out and a adaptor to hdmi it should run any size monitor.
