The M can be converted to C specs much easier than vice versa. The Ms 10" woofer can be removed, the hole could be sealed, the grille reinstalled, internal changes made: XO, PR mass, no one would know but you & your beautician. Sealing a reflex system increases power handling. 5% refundable deposit = place in que.

Brian repeated today he expects the bass to mid XO to end up around 200Hz.

It's a winner, more attractive than expected. I counted 6 total at the state of the art VMPS Academy in beautiful San Pablo by the bay. The solid light oak quarter round seams are excellent, high finish quality.

Your Feng Shue lady will love the curve of the elliptical base, looking super stable, to the point it never occurred to me to tilt it (vs. the RM40, which looks a bit tippy when you are first introduced). The vertical edge of the base is radiused too. There is no offset between the vertical cabinet panels & the vertical pieces of the slotted base, a nice straight line, again, cleaner looking than earlier VMPS floorstanders. Sorry no pics till Saturday after I get home from Brian's with the CD. I ordered a Canon Rebel Digital from another VMPS fanatic who says there are none left in the US till the next boat lands

As predicted earlier, it's a certain 10 rating in SOAF (significant other acceptance factor): slim, great yin-yang (feminine but enough heft for daddy) discrete, the ribbons add just the right touch of techy look unclothed (sans grill), full wrap, only painted surfaces are base & a narrow vertical full-length strip on the rear (a medium gloss black). The proportions are spot on. It could visually disappear in many a room, including yours......If you wuv ur wittle minimonitors but need a weal spkr, look no further..........to be continued.

PS: The grill for the 10" is a simple round piece of MDF with cloth stretched & glued on the inside (very clean, no excess). The woofer is inset far enough, & the cutout around it large enough to allow the grill to attach with a simple press fit. Installed the grill protrudes only about 1/4" from the cabinet, removes easily, yet stays tight at high volume levels. Would be relatively easy to remove the 10" and seal the hole. No one would know with the grill attached (would require PR & XO modifications).

Man you guys are like hungry sharks....Ummmm, light oak, dark oak, piano black, all are full wrap, all custom veneers are the same price on all VMPS models ($400pr cherry, etc). The Academy has a 20' ceiling. There is a kind-of soundroom w/ approx 8' ceiling, used to be John Curl's room, but Brian uses it for driver testing with the computer. It would be nice to convert the room into a midsized LEDE like at Bs house, but the room damping & equipment costs.

The XO had only general XO points. Voicing will begin no earlier than tonight at Bs LEDE soundroom at his palatial estate. Voicing will almost certainly continue, as John Cassler predicted earlier, probably till the day the van is packed for CES. So, I heard it, but really it's too early to say much, except it seems super dynamic, wide open sounding, very low distortion.

If compared to the RM40, my prediction is exactly what you'd expect: it will not drive as much air or have the maximum impact of a properly tuned pair of RM40s. Nearfield listening should favor the 30s. The 30s could virtually disappear in an average room, something impossible with the 40s unless it's an airplane hanger or the room with the walk-in fireplace at Hearst Castle.

I would like more information on the flexibility mentioned in "Woofer Options" section above, especially in conversion to a sealed cabinet. I find it amazing that the same cabinet internal volume could accomodate all the options mentioned. I have been using sealed speakers with twin subs for seceral years and have found that the combination produces very good integration without alot of fuss.

I have ordered an RM30 C "Horizontal" with an endcap.

I beleive it is this endcap that makes it a sealed speaker.

The only other thing the Horizontal designation gets me is the FST is rotated 90*

This will be my center speaker for HT.

I am so glad that I don't have the $$$$ that you have. I would go crazy waiting for UPS to arrive with all my goodies. The only thing I have to worry about is when will my 19mos old be unloading in his velcro plastic pants. Thank god for small miracles.

I have been informed that the "normal" RM-30C used as a horizontal center speaker will have the FST rotated 90 degrees and an end cap on what used to be the bottom, but the PR will be there and functioning. If you disable the PR, you turn it into a sealed box with the bass cutoff will move to 80Hz and destroy the voicing of the speaker. That makes sense, as it is important that the center have the same voicing as the front speakers.
