WOW!!! What a sweet audio room.

Below is a dedicated audio room that we all dream of having.

This particular masterpiece is Kevin Tellekamp's listening room/studio.  Kevin is the president of Silent Running Audio (SRA) - who makes some very good platforms for audio gear.

You can read more about it here:

Awesome work.

Just needs to be about 10 feet wider for this space cowboy.

That room is a little bit of overkill:

Quote
Speaking of AC power, each of the thirty AC wall outlets were wired to their own 20-amp breakers via its own "home run," which is a direct wire run from an outlet to a breaker. The exception to this is that each of the mono amplifiers runs at 240v and are wired to their own dedicated 30-amp breakers.

Collectively, over 2000 feet of rather expensive hospital-grade BX cable was consumed during the wiring of this studio. There are a total of 440 amps coming into the building. The circuits feeding the audio components are deliberately separated and placed in their own 220-amp Siemens commercial breaker box, complete with bolt-in, copper-clad circuit breakers. The second 220-amp panel feeds the security system, lights and mechanicals, including two tons of AC!

Do you really need 400+ amps just for the sound equipment?  I run my entire system (granted, not near the quality of this) off of a single 20 amp circuit.  I could see a few more circuits, but the amount of wiring he has in there is overkill, especially when the amps are on their own 30 amp 2 phase dedicated circuits.

I'd think to hear what his products contribute to the overall sound, being overkill is a smart way to go!

Well no....
its kind of like asking
"do you really need 400+ bhp?"

Hard drive?  Huh....

They are Verity Audio Sarastro II's. One of my current three reference speakers. $40k a pair.

Other two are the MartinLogan CLX and the Harbeth 40.1's.  Watch for an upcoming review...

I prefer rooms where people actually live, filled with sofas, chairs, puffs, antique Persian rugs, windows with a view to the outside and lots of light, surrounded by thick drapes, plus lots of plants, books and that sort of thing.

An inspiring room indeed! I would love to have it.

If I were going to lay down that kind of green though, I would find a way to get the source/preamp within a meter of the power amplifiers.  I mean if you're gonna have it all, why not get THAT part right?

Still,,,,,,,,,,,

I've been in Mike's room a few times and it is exceeding good acoustically. (I've tried to explain to him the sonic benefits of applying Bondo over the old-fashion wood finish of his speakers, but he just won't listen!)

Another great room belongs to Winston Ma the owner of First Impression Music,. Positive Feedback has done a couple of articles on it.

Both Mike and Winston have served as judges for our speaker contest: The Puget Sound! DIY Speaker Contest. Good Ears and very nice guys.

Best Regards,
TerryO
