I've tried a bunch of different things under every component I've owned - integrateds, CDPs, turntables, and speakers. Just about everything I've used has been stuff around the house, found outside, or ordered/loaned from places with 100% money back policies.
One thing I've learned from it all, is that they all have varying effects on the component. Even when the same component is used on a different type of table or stand, the same isolation piece will have a different effect. For example, my Rega Apollo sounds with hockey pucks sounded different on an Ikea Lack table than it did in on the same pucks in the same places in my oak cabinet.
The Oak cabinet isn't the best sounding solution, but it keeps little hands and paws off my gear.
Of everything I've tried, hockey pucks have been the best in my system for amplification and digital sources. They're the only thing that has improved everything and not something at the expense of another. In my system they're far better than some absurdly priced carbon fiber cones that a friend let me try.
I'd love to get a turntable wall shelf, but it wouldn't work out in my room. My TT sits on top of my oak cabinet, which is a horrible place for it. I tried a ton of things, and the best thing I've used by far is a Musical Fidelity isolation shelf. It sounds about 99% as good as when I had it on a small Ikea Lack table. I'd put everyting on the Lack tables if I could keep them safe.
