Hi Fullvolume
Welcome to the club

I'm quite a new user too and me thinks that we could be two of a kind judging by our user names.
If I was you I would snap it up at that price as long as theirs nothing wrong with it that the warranty won't cover. At 3 years old it will still have 17 years warranty left so not much to worry about if it does need fixing in time to come, As Mr James Tanner will look after you very well I'm sure.
I own the 4BSST and I'm very happy with it, and the BP26(DA) which is also fantastic. I bought my kit having done much research into whats BEST and what is the REAL DEAL out of all equipment available in my price range. I ordered the brochure of Brystons and it was full of wonderful words with the right philosophy, a company after my own heart, kinda like a Rolex catalogue is, and you know what - Bryston are the Rolex of amplifier manufacturers, in a rugged workman like way - no nonsense. Top Bannana and every word was true. I ordered my amplifiers without even listening to them such was the influence of all the independant reviews from true professionals, not the biased magazines. I was immediately impressed when I saw the Currier huffing and puffing carrying it into my house, was probably the heaviest thing he ever lifted!!!
To be honest though I'm a bit peeved that there is a new squared model out which slightly de-values my investment and is probably the reason why you have that opportunity for the 4BSST at that price.
This 4B serves me very well and sounds a treat with any music, my taste in music is very wide indeed going from bands such as Pink Floyd - Fleetwood Mac - Dire straights etc etc - bit of pop music - right up to psychedelic Goa trance - Techno trance, Rave, Oldskool house, funky house all underground stuff mostly from Von deutsch land of coarse (the rave and trance anyway). And the Brystons sound terrific with all of them. (I think I'm the youngest Bryston owner and member ever)
The only upgrade bug that's biting me at the moment is not the amp, it is to get some HUGE speakers (MB2 preferably) for the 4BSST to get its teeth into, it bairly gets warm running my ob1's at high spl..
I'd go for it you won't regret it.
Welcome
P.S - I paid £2595.00 GBP ($4,553.12 CAD) 2 years ago which was a discounted price from RRP £2700 ($4,737.35 CAD). And was just before a price increase to £3000 (5,263.72 CAD) due to raw material costs.
BARGAIN for what you get - Dual mono, 300 wpc (mines actually 332wpc), 100 Hour burn-in, 20 year transferable warranty, its unrivalled, well done Bryston.
