USB external HD case failure

Never seen that before.

I have a 200G that I use as my outboard backup.

Would not boot today, would not turn on at all.

Pulled the drive, installed in my desktop, and it is fine.

Guess I get to shop for enclosures now...

You are lucky you didn't loose data though - in the past I have had more than one enclosure cause problems - there were some chipset problems that involved drive capacity limits. Also some enclosures may be cheaply made with inferior cables, etc.

I do consider myself lucky indeed.

I suppose it could be the power supply (external to the external HD case), I have no way to check it.

Once I buy a new case, I will be able to check it.

Here's to backing up your data...!
