To me at least, there's no point in reopening an AV123 circle here. Even though the intention is good, I feel like a lot of negativity may come through. Speaking for myself here, though I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, is that my anger and frustration from a few months ago has turned into sadness. Sadness that a company that seemed terrific and had a forum where I enjoyed going to just seemed to collapse in the span of a 1/2 year. I'm sure that it was actually going on for longer than that, but that's when the problems really seemed to surface. I guess all good things must come to an end though.
Besides, Audiocircle is a good place to come to, especially since it broadens our horizons about what's out there. And while I've been here, I haven't noticed any significant strangeness or other assorted badness. Just good discussions.
What the heck happened over there? That group seemed like a very loyal bunch and Mark always struck me as a guy who took care of his customers. He had some delays and seemed to want to launch tons of similar products but he always took care of his customers. What happened?
This is my last post on the happenings of AV123 and I will not respond to replies.
Those of us who were early adopters of AV123 product were made numerous promises that never came true. I was told directly by Mark (and this was actually posted on the Rocket homepage) that there would be significant upgrades for the Rocket line. I was told there would be a redesign of the woofer cover that keeps popping off during high excursions. I was told that the woofer itself would be replaced to go lower in bass. I was told there would be digital delay lines (crossovers - as they were described). I was told there would be an active version. This was just for
ONE of their loudspeakers. None of them ever happened.
I convinced my best friend to get the Strata Minis because I was told there was going to be a center channel and on wall versions. Neither happened.
Others were asked to give hard earned cash, in advance, for speakers that were nothing more than sketches on a napkin. Guess what.....
I'm still enjoying my Rocket RS-1000's, but with all the "specials" Mark has run during the past two years the resale value practically makes them disposable. I was originally promised they could be traded-up, but since they have NO PRODUCT, what would be the point? (if they even honored that agreement these days).
I'll tell you this, if I was in the loudspeaker market today, AV123 would NOT be on my "A" list.
