I created this site to have a place to go...in time of need.

A good number of us moved to AudioCircle after the last shut down. A few of us stayed when AV123 came back online. This is a great place. The folks that aren't here are at Tweak City Audio.

I'm happy here.

Just for the record (and as I said before), the AV123 circle can be re-opened as an Owner's circle... what it takes is for someone to volunteer to run it and to follow the procedure... here

To me at least, there's no point in reopening an AV123 circle here.  Even though the intention is good, I feel like a lot of negativity may come through.  Speaking for myself here, though I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, is that my anger and frustration from a few months ago has turned into sadness.  Sadness that a company that seemed terrific and had a forum where I enjoyed going to just seemed to collapse in the span of a 1/2 year.  I'm sure that it was actually going on for longer than that, but that's when the problems really seemed to surface.  I guess all good things must come to an end though.

Besides, Audiocircle is a good place to come to, especially since it broadens our horizons about what's out there.  And while I've been here, I haven't noticed any significant strangeness or other assorted badness.  Just good discussions.

What the heck happened over there?  That group seemed like a very loyal bunch and Mark always struck me as a guy who took care of his customers.  He had some delays and seemed to want to launch tons of similar products but he always took care of his customers.  What happened? :?

John,

I might be interested in running it, hopefully along with some other AC members.

I need to ask you this first though.

If the av123 circle re-opens as an OWNER'S circle then it won't be claimed back by av123.com as their own circle right?

Thanks,

SlushPuppy

This is my last post on the happenings of AV123 and I will not respond to replies.

Those of us who were early adopters of AV123 product were made numerous promises that never came true. I was told directly by Mark (and this was actually posted on the Rocket homepage) that there would be significant upgrades for the Rocket line. I was told there would be a redesign of the woofer cover that keeps popping off during high excursions. I was told that the woofer itself would be replaced to go lower in bass. I was told there would be digital delay lines (crossovers - as they were described). I was told there would be an active version. This was just for ONE of their loudspeakers. None of them ever happened.

I convinced my best friend to get the Strata Minis because I was told there was going to be a center channel and on wall versions. Neither happened.

Others were asked to give hard earned cash, in advance, for speakers that were nothing more than sketches on a napkin. Guess what.....

I'm still enjoying my Rocket RS-1000's, but with all the "specials" Mark has run during the past two years the resale value practically makes them disposable. I was originally promised they could be traded-up, but since they have NO PRODUCT, what would be the point? (if they even honored that agreement these days).

I'll tell you this, if I was in the loudspeaker market today, AV123 would NOT be on my "A" list.

it's really a place where the "sensible" members can go...I'm not trying to start a "av123" place but just a place where people that i consider friends on the forum can go and talk audio gear, not senseless jargon.
At least register and give it a try :green:

I'm sure AC would love to have a AV123 members circle here to discuss av123 products and other audio topics.  I'm also sure AC would not like the pissing and moaning of what is not, hence our no dirty laundry policy.  It is clear to me Mark has big ideas but not the infrastructure to get there at this time.  There are many very good audio companies here at AC that would love for you to learn about their products.

Being the facilitator of an owners circle is not that difficult.  Please visit the Rules n stuff circle for what makes AC tick. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=117.0

No it won't, not unless you agree to such, or have already quit/left/abandoned the circle for others to claim.

I'm assuming that it's understood that the purpose of an Owner's circle is to discuss and share individual experiences with the product, not the company that made it.

I think an owner's circle would make a lot of sense.  Many of us have discontinued products, and it sometimes can be a bit uncomfortable discussing old items, particularly comparing them to the new...

His online postings and his product development moves always seemed frenetic and inconstant, and what's going on with a company is certainly related to what you can expect from the products: Will they ever make it to market, will they be supported, will they be supplanted by another early announcement the week they come out? If a company's product offerings and marketing can't support a generally positive circle then that says more about the company than the posters.
