I went to highschool with the local shock-jock in Vegas Al Miller.    He partied at my house a lot because I was the school party animal and my parents left me un-supervised a lot around that time.    He does interviews with porn stars and acts like Howard Stern from what I understand.    I don't remember him being that wild but I guess I calmed down and he went the other direction.    Oh how times change.....

That is the case for all these shows.   Companies bring their big-dog products that don't necessarily represent what they actually sell.   The game is to get press coverage, talk to dealers and just rub elbows with contacts in the industry.   

Most non-audiophiles would walk through the rooms and shake their head.    In my opinion, we need to really focus on product that attracts a larger audience.   Most of my customer base is over the age of 50.   In twenty years most current audiophiles will be dead.   If we are going to have a high-end audio industry we have to start cultivating the next generation now.

It is without a doubt true.   The numbers do not lie.   Either we will see a large group of people who are not audiophiles, become so, or we will not have anything like the current high-end audio industry in 20-30 years.   

I think that home theater is our saving grace.   I know that might sound like sacrilegious to a lot of people but it is a significant market segment with an average age of the consumer being much lower.    Those products have to serve multiple functions.   Those consumers want movies, games AND audio.    I think that is good on average but you won't find a lot of people in that market segment who are attracted to tweaks, high-end cables or high-end prices.   On average, they won't be interested in the same sort of products.    We will have to morph to deliver on their needs.

The new Maggies are pretty cool...and sounded good....the new Vandy sounded alot like the 5A to me, but I didn't get to spend much time there so don't take that for much...the new Magico M5 was simply incredible (should be for $90K) and there was a new speaker from a company called Boenicke (sp?) that uses the RAAL tweeter that was pretty awesome ($40K)....

Ah... I hope it isn't true either!        I'm 41 so I should still be kicking.   Once I made it past about 21-22 I was home free.   Now I'll make it until I hit the century mark.

No fair!   You are a year older and still have hair!   

That is a cool thing.   I need to do something like that with my son's highschool.   He isn't exactly excited about things like physics and our science curriculum has very little flexibility.   Most of the time is spent preparing kids for the WASL which is the standardized test.

I'd morph shop class & physics into one project.   Have the kids go through a quick easy build and then have them go down to the shop and cut it out on the CNC.    Maybe get two classes involved in the project.   You can have the nerdy Physics students working with the guys in shop to have their speaker built.

Yep, they were pretty darn nice sounding and actually quite comfortable....and I'm not a headphone guy!
