I think we should make a gentleman's bet, kind of like that Seinfeld episode where...well if you've seen it you've seen it. In any case, I propose an honor system, whoever can go the longest without adding something or changing something in their system. Of course, I'm saying this after I just bought a new amp...
I *think* I'm here to stay now.
1). Getting off the gear merry-go-round and listen to much more music.2). Finish ripping the collection to the server.3). Unload all my vinyl, open reel decks, and vintage Marantz quad receiver, which will finish off cleaning out the audio closet.4). Only one major project at a time, and only ones I can afford to finish -- most likely a really good DHT SET.5). build various cables and finish tweaking existing gear.6). Explore more headphone listening.I've actually made really good progress on all this in the past year and truly am enjoying far more music than in the past.Deep listening has become a very therapeutic thing for me, and my man-cave has become a real pleasure to spend listening time in.One thing is pretty clear to me now, I really do love the intimacy and emotional connection with the music that good SET/Single-driver systems can deliver. At this time last year I was pretty far from that, and now that's all I have for both systems.-- Jim
