Hi Mr Tanner,

From what serial No does the 4 BSST also go squared?

Thanks in advance

Hi Dinyaar,

4B-SSTC- SN 004288

Wow Mr Tanner. That was a reply in five minutes. I bought my amp in sept/oct of this year and the serial no is 004391. Does that mean that its a SST squared? It does not mention on the front or the rear though.
These questions are simply out of curiosity as i am really happy with the amp.
Thanks again

Hi Dinyaar,

Yes yours is an SST Squared --- it will have a small '2' on the end of the serial number on the back.

Hopefully January 1st 2009 which is the official launch date.

James,
Can we get any spy pics of the new chassis... You know with the black tape over the front grill to hide the secret new design...  :D

Hi Mike,

The chassis looks the same as the SST from the outside - it has totally different mounting points for the internal electronics though.

I am trying to track down your amp for you. Audiolight ordered a 14B recently - is this unit for you?  Did you purchase the amp or is it just for audition? Also did you order a BP26 as well?

james

Hi James,

Yes this is the one and it is for me.  The BP 26 with the dac is for my brother.  My 14b is with the 17" faceplate silver, no handle.  I place the order on december 1.

Thank you.

Gilles

OK great - I have it all sorted.

great... so although the official marketing launch is jan 09, if one ordered an amp today they'd get the new model

Hi Ash,

The 14B is the last one to change over to the new Squared series so we are just doing that this week.

Also we will be doing a special presentation with Magnepan in their room using 28B's, BP26, BCD-1, plus Torus and introducing a new Magnepan Mystery System!

james

James-

Since you're using the 28B's, is the new "Magnepan Mystery System" a bigger system than the 20.1s?

Hi James,

Official memo with the serial for each model stating that from a certain number it will be the upgraded versus even though the sticker doesn't indicate it.  Perferably on the Bryston website.  I wouldn't know this if I wasn't on here.  I do appreciate you checking into mine and verifying.  This reassure me one of the reason why I buy Bryston product.

Cheers

    Memo: To All Bryston Distributors/Dealers
    Subject: New Bryston SST²(squared) Amplifiers

    January 2009

Based on our research in designing the Bryston 28B-SST Mono power amplifier we have decided to include these performance advancements in a new series of Bryston amplifiers.

All our newer designed power amplifiers will now be designated the Bryston SST² (squared) Series. We will be debuting these new SST² amplifiers at the January 2009 CES Show.

The front panel power switches as well as the rear panel serial numbers will have the squared (²) symbol as part of the model/serial number.

     EX: (28B-SST²),  (7B- SST² ), (4B-SST² ) - etc.

Depending on the specific amplifier model advancements include:

    New power supply transformer design
    New push on/of power switch
    New chassis design
    New Soft-Start Circuit
    New Balanced input stage
    New Power Supply board.
    Bridging mode performance improvement
    Reduced point to point wiring
    Reduced circuit board count
    Redesigned output chokes[/li][/list]

We do not anticipate any price increases over the next few months.

    Sincerely,
    James Tanner,
    Bryston Ltd.

    Hi James.
Congratulations for the "upgrade". What we will expect about the sound of the new series SST² ??
    Thanx :xmas:
