I posted a review at AA: http://www.audioasylum.com/reviews/Accessory/George-Merrill-Analog/G.E.M.-Dandy-Hydraulic-LP-Cleaning-Aparatus/vinyl/75/757801.html

Rereading it I see that I wouldn't change anything of what I said. I think it's a lot better than the fluid/scrub thing. Also, since then I have sourced some high quality micro-fiber cloths and don't vacuum any more. I have not compared to a steam system such as the Mapleshade Phonophile, but I don't buy really grungy records, and the GEM system seems to get what I have as clean as I could want.

Thanks John! Very helpful indeed  :thumb:

that pic is an old set-up, when i used to be married.  that piece of equipment is a harrison labs dc power supply.  it was a big upgrade over the stock power supply that came with my origin-live dc motor kit i installed on my turntable.  (which was a big upgrade over the oracle's stock motor.)  the second pic below shows my present set-up w/replacement hewlett packard power supply.  (somehow, the harrison labs p/s didn't surwive the wife's temper when she became the "ex-wife", but the oracle was repairable - note new suspension pillars, and upgraded tonearm.     :o  )

also, note the record sweeper i mentioned prior, and the lead weight "outriggers" i have blu-tacked to the tonearm pivot, which helps damp side-to-side movement.

if you look wery closely in the following pic, you can barely make out a coupla other tweaks, besides a better wiew of the tonearm "outriggers" - mod-squad tiptoes and mini platform for them, wedged between cartridge and tonearm; and then there's a little audio-technica tonearm lifter that lifts the arm of the record at end of play...

Hey doug,
What's that piece of equipment in your gallery next to your T-table, (on picture 6 of 98) ??

It looks like an old analog microwave power meter.

Just curious . . . . .

Harrison Labs DC power supply - - -  that's it!

Man, that brought back a flood of memories. We used to use those power supplies in the college lab and then we used the HP supplies at work. Wow, they are still going strong after all of these years. Very cool. (Sorry to hear about the Harrison not surviving the wrath of your ex.)

Thanks Doug!

harrison labs was hp's predecessor; some pieces will have both names on them.  these are killer p/s units; you can get them for pennies on the dollar; and they are as good as any mondo-expensive audiophile approved dewices, imo.  so, fortunately, the cost to replace the one i had that got trashed was not much.  unfortunately, i can't say the same about some other stuff.  oh well...   :o  but you know why diworce is so expensive, doncha?  cuz it's WORTH it!
