+1 on that, the last track "Out There Somewhere" is one of my favorites.

The BBC stereophonic workshop did some very 'intelligent' music and if you search for library records you can get some of the very first electronic sounds made by people who were classically trained.

Robert Miles is an electronic musician who has been around for a long time his CD Dreamland is a classic.  He teamed up with Trilok Gutru, who I know nothing about, to produce one of the most exciting CD's have heard.  It is described as Electronica-generated world-beat/jazz.  The recording quality is phenomenal.  BobM recommended it so he must take credit, but I wanted to pass it along on this thread.

Everything but the Girl has been around for a long time.  I have been a fan of their folk sound, but they came out with this album and changed their sound.  This is a favorite of mine.

I was listening to Vanessa Mae on Youtube and I heard the song Storm off of the live album, this is my kind of music. The other similar version Vavaldi Techno- 97, Emi Records is just as good. Anyway I can't find either of these albums except for Best Of, on Amazon. Is there another distributor perhaps from Japan that offer these albums?

Here's a - GREAT TRACK - by Steve Hillage dating back to 1978.  Sit in the sweet spot, turn it up loud and enjoy!  Hopefully your computer speakers are up to the task. 8)

I sure enjoyed this stuff back in my analogue days when I first plunged into high end.

None of this has anything to do with any of the techno, house genres.

Most of it is closer to progressive music, so it is more interesting to listen to. And some of these are dark or on the avant garde side.

Furhs and Frohling - Amerland This one is beautiful and haunting.
Larry Fast/Synergy - his first 3 or 4 releases are must haves!
Kit Watkins - multiple styles. Great thing about Watkins is he can really play. Many great electronic artists are more in the 'sound sculpture' vein.
Steve Hillage - Rainbow Dome Music
Richard Pinhas - Electronic artist influenced by Robert Fripp
Vangelis - Heaven and Hell or Albedo 0.39
Neuronium - one of the best electronic artists from Spain
Popol Vuh
Ash Ra Tempel
NEU!
Djam Karet - they alternate releases between electronic and progressive (in the King Crimson vein). So make sure you're aware of which ones are which.
Lyle Mays - As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls (I know what you're saying, "an electronic CD from Pat Metheny's keyboard player?". It's a beautiful CD of electronic music.
Michael Hoenig - Exept One

Heard Neuronium, liked the songs I heard. I think I still have one of their songs around somewhere. Used to have compilation cassettes that got stolen.

Michael Hoenig as well used to have an album which was quite good. Couldn't remember his name to buy a replacement.

Vangelis Heaven or Hell got that on vinyl. Never listened to it. I've heard Albedo 0.39.. Multi-track suggestion is a song of his I like. Vangelis was one of the pioneers of electronic music. Some of his early work was really good.
