Hello all,
I have eyed GR Research loudspeakers for some time now. I had wanted a pre-built AV-1 a couple of years ago, but could not afford it. I finally have the funds available, but I called Danny, and, as you know, he no longer builds them. Thus, I am left with a dilemma in regard to obtaining a GR loudspeaker. Danny kindly suggested the PE boxes, but I do not know if I have all of the woodworking equipment to build them correctly--though, I have done a bit of woodworking, albeit with very basic tools (inexpensive compound mitre saw, jig saw, drill). I tend to be a perfectionist, too, and would want a nice product when completed...no "homemade" look.
After reviewing the newer available models, I would opt for a Neo-1X. I have a medium sized room, and do not listen at high levels. In regard to obtaining these loudspeakers, what should I do? Should I buy the parts (and some power tools, I guess) and attempt a build, or should I ask an experienced builder here to assiste me or to build them completely? A good router alone would go for about $250, right? I welcome any advice or comments, as I would like to get this project moving forward.
Thanks,
Glen
