Quantum of Solace - The New James Bond Movie
« on: 13 Nov 2008, 12:24 am »
Okay guys, "Quantum of Solace" will be released on November 14th.  I can hardly wait to see this film because I so thoroughly enjoyed the last James Bond movie.  I hope that the early viewers of this film will quickly post their reviews here.

I wish they had made an IMAX version of this movie. I watched Batman in IMAX and James Bond is a bigger action figure and been around a damn sight longer. James doesn't hide behind a mask and has earned the right to be on the really big screen. 8) :thumb:

Absolutely gripping! Daniel Craig seems to continue his streak of cold-blooded killings, much to the consternation of "M" (Judi Dench, as always at her best!). I think this is the first time Bond has his licence to kill revoked and personally held in custody! Don't expect cliche blonde girls. Remember, he is still mourning Vesper's death (the only girl he seems to have truly loved). The plot is a bit confusing and complicated (so pay attention, this show will take you from South America, to medieval Siena in Italy to the Caribbean, Russia ... of course London ... Bond certainly went places with this movie!

I like his last line, in response to M welcoming him back, he replies: "I never really left!" Cool!

Enjoy the show, be sure to have a good pee before the show! My bladder was bursting and the gripping action didn't help alleviate things!!

Best Regards
Dennis

My wife and I went to the 11:30 AM showing of Quantum of Solace this morning.  I will be very interested to read the reviews of all my peers here on AC that go to this movie.  Unfortunately, both my wife and I were disappointed and were ready for the movie to end 30 minutes before it finally did.  James Bond Movies have always been filled with over the top action but they normally have a decent plot.  The plot in Quantum of Solace is razor thin, if there is one at all.  Some of the special effects were good but many of the action scenes were shot with hand held cameras and the footage was jerky, to be kind.  My wife said this was the worst James Bond Movie she has seen and unfortunately I would agree.  It is not that I don't like Daniel Craig because I really liked the last Bond Movie.  This one was just disappointing for both of us.  I will give it 2.5 out of a possible 5 stars and only that for the action.

Again, I will be very interested in your ratings and reviews of this film.

It's a 3 hour round trip to Burlingtion's Majestic 10 with roller reclining seating in a stadium type room with a very very good DTS sound system. My local theaters have flipdown seating with a guaranteed head in the way plus I always needed an aisle seat just so I'd have a place for my legs.

On other hand, a NY RAVE is a 8-9 hour round trip and when you throw in the food & beer, you have an apples/oranges comparison my friend. :thumb:

Seen it, Liked it a lot, planing on going again next week just to catch up on some of the things that happened so fast. I like the fact that they have gone back to the Bond with out all the gadgets ect. If you ever read any of the original books you would know that Bond is pretty much a stone cold killer. Bond quite the special Branch in Licence to Kill to get revenge for Felix lyter

I saw it and thought it was the thinnest movie plot for a Bond film...I do like the actor. He could be the best Bond ever.  But the not enough good car chases, not enough dialogue, he did too much travelling it seems to let the story have any detail.

And he didnt make out with the russian actress...!!whassup with that James!!!

Saw the movie over the weekend. Thought it was quite okay especially compared to the high bar set by casino royale. The plot is a bit thin, and the director seemed to make up for it by adding loads of chases, action, and explosions. Movie moves at breakneck speed ... Daniel Craig, to me atleast, is the best bond. And i much prefer the way newer bond movies are made. I can hardly sit through the older bond movies. I guess they were good for their time, but they don't seem to age well.

I'd rate this a 6.5/10.
