Not very happy
« on: 8 Oct 2008, 12:30 am »
I'm a little peeved....yonder project is not turning out how i would like.  First i couldn't get the color (gray) to turn out.  I wanted copper but the copper looked uber cheap.  then the chassis layout was a bit tighter than i planned and had to move the pot.  then the chassis punching was a bit off.  eyeballing it didnt' work as well as it used to....just generally flustered at the moment and I am venting.

BTW, its a ray koonce timebandit 2A3 w/the giant hammond power transformer and electraprint outputs and chokes.  sovtek outputs etc...

thanks,
Jvo

Man, I have days where everything I do either fails or ends up looking like crap.

Take a couple days off until you get the urge to work again.

BTW it looks great...we are our own worst critics you know.

Looks great so far, I know what that feeling is like, sometimes stepping away from a project saves me from throwing it out the window :)

When you come back to it, usually you have a different perspective on things...

It got taken apart, sanded down and re-coated.  Its copper now.  I also hit the walnut with some steel wood and put another coat of poly on it.  it is more to my liking now.  it weighs around 15 to 20 pounds with all the iron.

Thanks,
Jvo

Everybody has days like that. The Facts O' Life!

How would you like this: I once painted an enclosure the wrong color and decided to repaint it. Sounds easy enough- until ALL the paint started to bubble up!!!! ARGH! Ohhh...lots of putty knife & sanding work!

It bubbled due to the first unwanted layer having poor metal adhesion. FYI: It didn't bubble up until it was re-sprayed.
