Hi yall Im in need of a decent small sub for augmentation in a small TV room. I was planning on an x-sub as I have seen them for so long and had a killer price- low and behold AV123 doesnt make them anymore and was having quality issues with many- so used is a crudshoot. Does anyone else know of a good one- checked out parts express and wasnt too intrigued. The av123 price ~$200 was nicce for what youu were getting -Thanks
A wholehearted recommendation on the Gallo TR series of subs.....wow, I bought the lowliest TR-1 model (stole it more like it

) on ebay last year for like $189.00 (used - new I think they are $400) and
finally hooked it up last week. I've seen them new for $300 or so in spots.
It's soooo good...the higher line TR-2 is mostly the same except for the advance to a 250watt internal amp (versus 100 watt). Same substantial 10" woofer, same (sealed) small, cylindrical steel enclosure and a full range of options on the back to choose from.
For my (audio only) needs the TR-1 is plenty fine...if yo need a bit more cranking up with video, the TR-2 might be better suited. It's all about room size, too.
I'm going to invest in some brass feet and a thick plank of maple underneath...all that energy needs to be outlet-ed somewhere....right now it's overpowering the room (I have it tucked away in a corner, bass reinforced unfortunately, but it is completely unseen and I like it that way). Brass feet and a thick maple block have worked wonders with my turntable, I hope it do much the same in re-directing excess energy with the subwoofer.
