If so, these amps could be for you:

Start adding up the system the amps were auditioned in and you really can start to feel woozy!   :o

$139,000?

Sure, I can handle that.

But $139,290?

No way, that's just crazy!

Yes.  Expensive things should (and almost always do) look expensive.  But this particular amp exceeds "expensive" by an order of magnitude.  This is an amp designed for when "expensive" simply isn't enough.  Items such as these can never look "expensive", lest people mistakenly believe that the owner spent a mere fortune on it.

Think about it this way.  Hugh Heffner is is always turned out immaculately.  He's famous and he's rich, and consequently he gets to sleep with lots of attractive women.  But when it comes to attracting the ladies, he's not in the same league as Mick Jagger.  Mick would never dress like Heff, or people would think that he needed to dress like Heff.  It's the same with the Lamm.  If it looked like one of those sweet Hovland Sapphires, or an Art Audio Carissa, people would think it only cost as much as a Hovland Sapphire or an Art Audio Carissa.  But to adopt a look as humdrum as the Lamm's announces that the amp is in a completely different price range.

Very nice write up. I like the way he explains the price tag and the overall sound of the unit.
20yrs of hard work! Sounds like he needs some R&D people with funding to bring the costs down.

Justified pricing or not, I'll bet he already has orders. Lamm has never been known for audio "Bling" and I don't think that will ever change. They are who they are.

If you're going to get the amps, you should probably go ahead and drop $1M on the Kharma Grand Enigma.....

$139,000.......It must be in the iron. They don't look like much under the hood but then again, I have never heard them.

Inside the M3

Those are CMC connectors made in Tiawan. They are used on most Usher speakers. I had them on my Usher D2 horns. Big and heavy but very user friendly.

It doesn't look like he even uses teflon caps! I wonder what the upgrade charge would be to substitute those in there? :thumb:

PS - so who wants to bet on how much time will elapse before the first Chinese GM70 based tube amp will arrive in the marketplace for a much more reasonable price?

I don't doubt they sound fantastic and I don't want my above comments taken the wrong way. You cannot judge the sonic qualities of a product by it looks.

I had someone wanting me to go inside and upgrade the ML2.1 last year. He called me 3-4 times trying to talk me into it. I held my ground and declined.
