Exciting News from Red Wine Audio!
« on: 14 Aug 2008, 03:33 pm »
All,

When you now visit www.redwineaudio.com, you will see a new addition to the
Red Wine Audio lineup  8)
(note: you may need to clear your web browser cache to see the updates)

Red Wine Audio is proud to be the exclusive North American distributor for WLM Loudspeakers of Austria.

Our decision to represent WLM Loudspeakers is based on the following important criteria:

The extraordinary synergy that exists between WLM Loudspeaker designs and Red Wine Audio components - both of which have gained a rock-solid reputation from numerous rave-reviews, awards, and a very loyal and satisfied customer base.

The vision and goal of both Red Wine Audio and WLM to offer our customers complete end-to-end home audio system solutions that we have carefully evaluated and guarantee to offer an unmatched musical presentation - regardless of price.

We are very excited about teaming up with WLM and we have another special annoucement:

Red Wine Audio & WLM Loudspeakers will be exhbiting at the
2008 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest:

Please visit us in Room 543. We hope to see you there!

We've been considering offering a complete front-to-back solution. WLM has been very successful in Europe with RWA electronics and after listening to their speakers ourselves, we know why!  The synergy is fantastic!

Naturally, we were concerned that by offering our WLM Loudspeakers, some people would assume this to mean that these are the only speakers that work well with RWA electronics. This is simply not true.  We've been in business for 3 years and the list of speaker brands our electronics have very satisfied customers using many speakers from different manufacturers, and will all sorts of topolgies (e.g. multi-way, single-driver, horns, bass-reflect, e-stats, etc.).  This ongoing thread shows the "tip of the iceberg" with regards to RWA equipment and speaker pairings: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=50808.0

Adding select speaker models from a well-established European manufacturer loudspeaker helps us serve those customers who live in areas with no access to dealers to hear anything for themselves. We can now provide such customers with a guaranteed solution for a complete system, with the same high-level of customer service and 30-day satisfaction guarantee as everything else we make. :thumb:

Please feel free to contact us with any questions:

Thank you and Happy Listening!

Vinnie,

Congratulations!  Very, very nice indeed!  Very much looking forward to finally meeting you at the show!  Any idea what model of the WLMs you'll be bringing?

Vinnie:

Congratulations on the WLM line of speakers. I've being eyeing those La Scalla floorstanders ever
since their great review @ 6moons.com. For just under 3000 euros it seemed a bargain until our
dollar tanked so now its just a pipe dream until I win the lottery or do something nefarious.
Again, a nice product to add to your incredible line.

Vinnie,

Just one question -- how do you fit a 10" driver on a 6.5" wide baffle (the dimension given for the width of both Diva models.?

Hi Jim,

Because we signed up late, we will be in a small room that I believe is 13 feet x 15 feet, so we'll probably bring the the La Scala and Diva Monitors.  They sound much bigger than their size and really "fill-in" a small room.  I have not decided yet but I will announce it when we get closer to RMAF.

Simple... magic!  aa    Seriously, thank you for finding this typo.  The correct width is 10.5" and I will have this corrected  :duh:
I confirmed that the other dimensions are correct  :green:

Thanks!

Both Hannes Frick of WLM Loudspeakers and I have relayed our news to 6moons, and I just spotted this
article, which does a great job at describing the essence of this collaboration:

Special thanks to Srajan Ebaen / 6moons.com!

Hey Vinnie. Knowing you they must be great speakers, so this move should be good for your company and US consumers. But I have to admit my first reaction is one of sadness. I am so pleased with the pairing of RWA and Omega. I had personally hoped your relationship with Louis would continue to evolve to the benefit of both companies. My tendency is not to share this kind of thought in a public forum, but that's the way I feel.

Good luck to both you and Louis. You both make great products that benefit the audio community. Kent

Hi Kent,

No need to be sad... I still highly recommend Louis / Omega Loudspeakers.  The 8" Omega Alnico Hemp driver is the best single driver I have heard and when asked for recommendations of single-driver speakers, Omega is on top.  Louis has been moving closer and closer to "factory direct" in the USA, and while we will both continue to recommend each other to customers, RWA is not needed to help bring exposure to Omega in North America.  Louis' reputation is very solid here for great customer service, build quality, and value and I cannot see this ever changing.  While we both have different business goals, we will be friends for a long time and this is most important

I share the same sentiments although I can understand why RWA has established a business relationship with WLM.  Now it seems that RWA has taken the high end business model whereas, Louis continues to offer  products that provide excellent sound and a range of models with largely moderate prices.

...RWA is not needed to help bring exposure to Omega in North America.

Good to hear. Louis makes a great product, but unlike RWA, has not been recognized or appreciated by the audio critics / press. I assumed RWA might be one of his best channels for increased exposure.

While we both have different business goals, we will be friends for a long time and this is most important

Kent,

I do appreciate your feedback, and I would greatly appreicate it if you would contact me privately if you would like to continue the conversation regarding RWA/Omega.  I want to keep this thread on topic.

Congratulations Vinnie on your becoming the exclusive North America distributor for WLM loudspeakers.  I purchased WLM La Scala's (the floorstanders) to pair with my Signature 30. 2 almost exactly a month ago, and I couldn't be happier.  My listening room is about 21' x 18', with openings to an adjacent hallway and dining room, and I have either auditioned or owned a lot of speakers over the years, including Devore Gibbon 8's and Zu Druids.  I have found the La Scala's to be very open and dynamic, with great bass and tone.  I really appreciate their ability to portray all of the richness of tone of an instrument or voice, in a very natural manner.  I purchased them for this reason, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn how open and dynamic they are.  I am picky about the quality of the treble, and I found the treble of the La Scala's to be smooth and to have body (i.e., cymbals sound substantive, not tinny); the paper tweeter probably has something to do with this.  I don't have any relationship with WLM or any dealer, and I would note weaknesses if I had found them, but I haven't.  They are without doubt the best speaker for my taste and room/equipment that I have listened to.  I am glad that you are there to back up the brand in the US.

Hi Andrewm,

Welcome to Audiocircle and the RWA forum!

Nice to read your comments about the 30.2 + La Scalas... these are such a great match and we are so pleased to represent WLM in North America!  8)

WLM informed me that the German print magazine, Image Hi-Fi, has just reviewed the La Scalas and it is a very favorable review.  They are hiring a translator to convert to English, and I will then post it here and on our website.  :)

Thanks for your post!

Hi Kent and Scott,

Thank you!

Best regards,

Vinnie

Hello all ! Don't know how I missed this forum  :?

I just wanted to add my congrats to Red Wine Audio on their new WLM distribution. I purchased a pair of Diva's off the previous distributor in Canada. I looked around for a long time trying to find some very sensitive, easy to drive loudspeakers with clean, classic looks. That wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but I had one or two options. Then I stumbled upon the WLM review at 6moons and was taken but the lovely looking Diva Monitors. As an weekend woodwork warrior I was impressed by the finishing of the speakers and how clean the woodshop was ! I was also intrigued by the active crossovers and amazing looking subwoofers. It seemed to me that these guys weren't the usual box stuffers and had really thought about the integration of the speaker with the room, something that's missing from almost every other loudspeaker manufacturer IMO.

In the end I went for a pair of Diva floorstanders and I'm very happy with them. Their most impressive attributes (compared to previous speakers I've owned) are the speed of the dynamic swings, the very good off axis performance and the +/- 6db HF adjustment. I guess the dynamics are expected with 96db sensitivity but it's nice change to not have to sit in a three foot sweet-spot to hear a reasonably balanced stereo image.

Anyway that's enough of that. I didn't intend to write a review !

Hi JCL,

Welcome to Audiocircle and the RWA forum!

It is nice to see so many new members joining and posting... thank you.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your Divas!

We are receiving a lot of emails asking about the Diva vs. La Scala.  A new order of La Scalas and Divas (both floorstander and monitors) have been ordered and we plan to carefully test them together post a new thread that describes how they compare - stay tuned!

Thanks again,

Vinnie

This is GREAT news!

I read that you will be pairing RWA with WLM at the RMAF this year.  The LaScala's have been on my shortlist for speakers I'd like to hear with the 30.2.
Hmmmm........ It is tempting me to make the 9-hour drive from Salt Lake City just to hear the combo!

Grats on the new partnership!
