I don't know if this has been discussed here before, but I have always been curious about the history and origins of this hobby...

Is there a geographic location that seems to be the epicenter? Was it Menlo Park with Edison and the phonograph? Was it in Woodbury, New York where Dr. Sydney Harman and Bernard Karmon got their groove on?

And where is it living on today? I can't see much in Wiki about this, so I was wondering where you think the critical mass began and where it resides now?

Just wondering,

Hey!

Check out this thread that I posted a while ago...

Personally I like history. History about anything and audio is of course one of them :D

I've always been fascinating with the history side of audio for a very long time now. Since the day I got interested in audio and even more so after I got my first turntable. :D

And you know what? Now I'm not just like to learn about audio's history. I'm actually living it! Yes, last year one of my long time audio dream came true when I bought a 1902 Victor "Type E" Talking Machine! :inlove:

Here is the thread about it...

   What a wonderful machine!

Anyway, luckily we have internet today. You could do some searches and learn a lot about audio's history. :D As for where is Hi-fi live now? Everywhere! Music playing is everywhere now. Think of how humble this all started out more than a Century ago. :D

BTW... if you want to come up to hear it sometime let me know. :D

Take care,
