Working on better integrating my Abyss subwoofer into my 2 channel music system. The sub will be covering ~ 40Hz-20Hz range. Along with the dedicated cables, I will possibly try using inline high pass filters (Harrison Labs) for the main down the road.

My question here is any recommendations on subwoofer cable types as I want a dedicated cable from Pre-to the sub. Currently swapping the cable back and forth from my AVRreceiver. I am thinking that a Silver cable may be better due to speed.

Sub specific cables I am considering:
  • bluejeans cable:                    Copper Solid-core   12 pF/ft capacitance.  7ft                      $20
  • cobalt cable:                         Copper Stranded-core         17 pF/ft capacitance.   6.5ft                 $50
  • bettercables silver serpent:    Copper Stranded-core w/ silver coating  <17 pF/ft cap.  6.5ft      $45

All above are shielded
All above are 75-Ohm impedance

Budget is $100
Likely will get a pair of cables instead of my original idea of a Y splitter. The sub has L/R inputs.

BTW: Currently using a single monoprice 6ft coaxial 75-Ohm RCA Cable @ $4.00 for AV use.

thanks, ed

Blue Jeans is fine and a great value, it is a sub cable.

Your sub won't care, and you won't notice, so just get the cheapest one... which you already have.

Trust me bass isn't that fast.  :P

I made my pair.  Very simple to do if you can solder and you have precise control over the length needed.  I used some West Penn 25815 75ohm coax (teflon dialectric) and some decent rca's.  Great definition, speed and body.

As was pointed out...your sub won't care all that much.

^^Can't solder. Want to though.

Went with Blue Jeans. Length needed is longer than first estimated.  And I directed monies toward a VH Flavor 4 PC and some VH source ICs instead.

Anyone looking for a tons of subwoofer oriented cables check out The Cable Company: http://www.thecableco.com/index.php

Solid core seems to work well with bass. Blue Jeans will ne just fine.
