Some of you guys sound like you were looking to see a Oscar winning film.  I loved it (for what it was worth) and love my staute more since it's going up in value.

I think with the major decline that the studios are seeing in attendance and viewership of the Oscars that perhaps they should consider Downey JR's role as a nominee for Best Actor or perhaps Heath Ledger's upcoming role in The Dark Knight for Best Supporting Actor 9if all the hype about the job he did is true). The scene on the dance floor between Downery JR and Paltrow is incredibly done.

The worst part of the movie by far is the end fight scene which is really funny because that should be the best part but the rest of the movie was fantastic in many ways. The terrorists were a bit lame though, ok extremely lame, but that is the story some how.

I will point out that Stark's heart did not have shrapnel originally. The original story is that it was hurt very bad and the device that keeps him alive has to be charged everyday. That is his weakness, and the occasional heart attack. Also the original story was based on commies!!! Hhahahaha man Avengers and Iron Man are racists imperialist.

I was a big Iron Man comic book fan, and he absolutely did have shrapnel that threatened to pierce his heart.

The original, from the issue whose cover you posted in your link, has Tony Stark with shrapnel near his heart...

I know there were other incarnations of Iron Man, but I didn't know there were other incarnations of Tony Stark...I do seem to remember that Marvel did one take on a "young Tony Stark" (teenage), but that was around the time when I started losing interest in comic books.  Is that the one you're talking about?

if you guys ever get the chance- read Ultimate Avengers- there is a funny scene in it where they talk about the Avengers franchise and who could play them-Nick Fury mentions that only Sam L Jackson could play him.

Well originally he had to wear a chest plate that had a magnet in it that had to be recharged, it was not an infinite thing. I guess what I meant was the tiny shrapnel going to his heart in the blood stream (how does that work?) is not the same case as the original piece that simply can not be removed. Sorry about that.

Yeah, the movie was different from the original with regards to how his chestplate/magnet was powered, but at least they did introduce the whole thing about the power supply running out of juice in the final battle.  I don't remember them saying in the movie that the shrapnel was in his bloodstream...just that the magnet that the other scientist embedded in his chest was there to keep the shrapnel from entering his heart (just like in the original comic book).

I swear that is what I heard. It was weird, did not expect them to say something like that (maybe they did not). However when the magnet was pulled from his chest (the ghetto one) it looked like they actually had a few pieces of shrapnel on it for effect.

The power running out was good, but it was awkward that is was not due to daily issues. I suppose however with the idea of anything modern, anything short of a power supply that is not somewhat infinite would seem silly and weak for a modern genius.

Yeah, I also think it was an attempt at being "green", too.  The "arc light power cell" appeared to be carbon-neutral and didn't require a carbon-emitting energy source to power it...

I thought Iron Man was a very good movie...not great, but very good.  I never followed the Iron Man comics so I can't judge it's accuracy compared to those. 

I'm a big X-Men fan but those X-Men movies sucked so much I'm really looking forward to other comic book movies to keep me entertained.  I'm very excited about 'The Dark Knight', which to me looks like the movie to beat this summer.

I've been a Robert Downey fan for many years now but a superhero he ain't. Now I'm not saying I didn't like his acting but as far as superheros go, he just doesn't have the physique to go with desired look. Of course being dressed up in an iron suit, Don Knox could have played the part. It's just everytime I saw Downey w/o a shirt on, all I could thinkof were all those hard driving miles his body has taken tho all those years of self abuse and that sorta took away from the Marvel image. But i'm reallynitpicking here as it was a very very entertaining movie with a solid plot & the special effects to go with it. I especially liked that metal well in Starks chest. I also especially enjoyed watching the theater empty with the house lights came on during the credits. I ended up being the only one who actually saw the sequel preview at the very end. As much as I hate those things, the last X-Men movie comes to mind,, I especially liked this one and it was worth sitting thru those lengthly credits.

4.0 out of 5 stars (probably would have bumped it up to 4.5 stars if I hadn't watched Indiana movie first in this matinee doubleheader. That's the 1 good thing about this Vermont 10 screen theater, $6 for the matinee and there's no one to check the stub so you can actually fit 4 movies if you have the afternoon/evening free. Considering it's 1.5 hr drive for me, 2 movies is my limit.
