When I first found out this movie was going to be made- I thought How boring! Tony stark is a Bruce wayne -wannabe!!
But i have to say I really enjoyed this film..... Robert Downey JR was the movie, He was the perfect Tony Stark.

NOTE**** Stay for all the credits- and see the extra scene at the end of the credits.

I really looking forward to the sequel.... ultimate avengers?

Yeah, a fantastic film, probably the best film adapted from any Marvel or DC comic that I've seen. :thumb:

I'm not sure i'd say it's the best adapted comic movie i've seen, but it was excellent and exceeded my expectations by a good deal.

Marvel's been discussing an avengers movie for a long time, but i think they're now seriously on the path. It'll be after the Thor and Captain America movies, and they need to give Banner control of the Hulk. Based on the list of characters in the new Hulk movie (Doc Samson), he may be getting a brain and joining the avengers (Tony Stark) in short order.

I just watched a Biography of Robert Downey Jr. the other night,,,, it's amazing the man's still alive let alone acting in major movies in the feature role.  :o Both accomplishments are quite amazing. The man definitely has inner fortitude regardless of his personal weaknesses. I'll wait til the movie comes out on DVD before I watch it but I do look forward to watching it and once again watching the master of his craft at work.  :D

Cheers,
Robin

I enjoyed this one as well, it was a solid movie with good mass appeal.  It made a ton of money but I haven't seen much fanfare.

I stayed  until after the credits (which seemed like an eternity) unless you're a hardcore comic fan, go ahead and get a jump on the traffic

I stayed, too, having been alerted online of the extra stuff.  But I will say it pisses me off when they do that.  It's one thing to FF a DVD, but you should never be forced to wade thru all the credits to see content.

Stole my words.  I was typing almost the same words this morning, got distracted, and didn't come back here until now.

Yeap, it's very entertaining.  I would give it at least a B+, A-.

An excellent film with a pretty well flushed out story. The final fight scene was actually the least thought out part, but overall it was excellent. This is the first film Marvel did completely themselves and did not license out to a major studio. It is remarkable the turn around Marvel has made; from being on the verge of bankruptcy to the largest licensing contracts in the world, wow!

I saw this last Friday (opening night).  Liked it, but would not consider it to be in the class of Superman, Spiderman 2, or Batman Begins...those three are IMHO at the top of the comic-adaptation films.  Iron Man IMHO was in the next tier; not quite as good as Spiderman 1, but better than the likes of Rise of the Silver Surfer, and head/shoulders above films like Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and the other bottom-dwellers.  The main problem I had with Iron Man was that I thought it was way too predictable.  I agree that Robert Downey Jr. was excellent as Tony Stark...hopefully the sequel will step it up the way it did in the Spiderman series of films...

I missed the after credit part.... :(

I think Iron Man looks cool, fights cool, etc.... I however tend to hate the story that follows him and the Avengers. The story always seems to be racists and pro-capitalists-corporations-imperialists etc...

Some of you guys sound like you were looking to see a Oscar winning film.  I loved it (for what it was worth) and love my staute more since it's going up in value.

Well I hope Iron Man, got its due and enjoyed its week because Speed Racer is coming and I must say I don't think I've been so excited to see a movie in a long time, makes me feel like I'm 12 again.  I don't know how they are going to meet expectations on this one but it looks stunning and could be an instant classic.  Something tells me this is gonna be one of the top 3 grossing films ever.

Gotta see this one on the IMAX screen.

Caught this tonight...pretty good movie.  Downey mannerisms wears on you, kinda too childish for the portrayed brilliant scientist Tony Stark. But other than that, its a two thumbs up movie imo.

The scene where Stark takes the MK I armor out for its' first flight has to be one of the best geek moments ever committed to film!   It's the dream of flight that probably everyone has had, but to me much more joyous than Superman, etc; a superhero that can fly does so like you'd walk- nothing dangerous in that.  But to essentially fly a one man plane that's basically a suit of clothes...that's Icarus stuff!  It's man vs nature, man vs his fears, and wonderfully done.  I love the way they portrayed him on the balance of exuberance and terror, a boy with the utlimate toy.  The effects are fantastic in that scene.

Approp of nothing, and not to derail the thread, I have to say I personally think the Superman films are comically crappy.  I can't fathom the appeal.  Even as a child I thought they were moronic.

Edit:  I have poor proofreading skilz...

Second that...in fact after we came out of the theatre, my little companion and myself made fun of the Superman movies...like just how silly it was that no one can see that Clark Kent is superman...even the woman who has a crush on him.  :dunno:

I agree that Superman 2 and beyond were very comic-y.  But I think the first Superman was tremendous, particularly for its time (1978)...did a great job at being "epic".

Well...Gwenyth Paltrow is an Oscar winning actress, so why not?  :P
