Emerald Physics CS2 connection question
« on: 2 Apr 2008, 11:30 pm »
After trying a couple of speakers that have not worked out, I am back to wanting to try a pair of CS2's. The complexity of these speakers does bring up one problem for me. I am using the same pair of speakers with separate music and movie systems. When I want to listen to music, I just unplug the speaker cables that go to my Onkyo SR805 and plug in the speaker cables from my RM-200. Kind of a pain but that's what I have to do. If I try a pair of CS2's, I would probably look for a RM-10 to power the tweeter. I don't really want to have to use the tube amps when watching a movie. Is there any work around for this?

After reading this, I may take the full plunge, amps and all. Add a Modwright or other tubed pre with HT bypass and I could be all setup for music and movies with just the flick of a switch.

Are you not able to take the L&R (mains) analog output of the SR805 to a L&R analog input of your 2 channel Preamp for HT?  Or are you not using a Preamp?

That (if possible) would eliminate having to change speaker cables and you would use your 2 channel amp for both HT and 2 channel audio

I am not using a preamp as I am feeding my SB3 directly to my amp. Since the CS2's require four channels of power, this still would not work.

Got it.
