I wanted to take a minute and introduce myself as the new facilitator of this site.  I joined Audio Circle approximately a year ago and quickly became addicted to the site because the members were so willing to help me as I was complete audio novice.  When JohnR was seeking new facilitators for some of the Circles I volunteered for this one because both my wife and I have a passion for watching movies.  We do so frequently through DVD Rentals or by going to the Cinema.  I don't know if I have a favorite type of movie, I just want to be kept engrossed in the story and to not be wanting to leave the Cinema or eject the DVD.

Please let me know any suggestions you have aimed at improving this Circle.  I look forward to reading your comments and future reviews.

Woodsyi:

I remember Barberella as one of those movies of my youth.  The movie was one of the worse films of all time but at that time of my life I was only interested in Jane's assessets!

What would you get if you mated Barbarella to Barbarino?

Welcome abroad Ken, I hope this volunteer duty is a pleasurable one for you as it should be.  :thumb: Seeinfg how i might possibly newly retired myself, movies will surely be filling my time along with sports viewing. I will be scoping out this circle for possble ideas on what movies to view along with sharing my insights on those ones that I do watch. Sci-fi and action-adventure are my staples.

I just finished watching a couple of action "regulars" from the last 15 years, Steven Seagal in Pistol Whipped and Jean-Claude Van Damme in The Shepard Border Patrol. Of the 2, Jean-Claude's movie had more acting to offer along with a better story plot. Seagal's movies simply don't change, probably cuz Seagal's acting never does. I'm always asking myself after watching a seagal movie,,,, "why did I rent this?" In fact the only change I've ever noticed in a Seagal movie is the man keeps getting bigger n' bigger. Bottom line, both these movies could easily be ignored,,,, unless you're an action junkie like I am. Just don't expect a Bourne Ultimatum type of movie here, you can wade thru the plots with sneaakers while watching either movie.  :thumb:

Cheers,
Robin

Congrats Ken,

My family and I love movies too. My collection is probably over 1000 movies and growing. I haven't gone blue-ray yet but I'll start soon. Let me recommend Videohound's Golden Movie Retriever as a wonderful movie resource. I've reached the point in my collection that I don't want to waste time on bad movies and I often run out of movie ideas. This guide always offers a movie that I've forgotten or haven't heard of that me or my family will watch.

You could also add a sticky to the top of the forum with links to IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, and other movie resources.

Good luck with your new responsibilities. I wouldn't have minded facilitating this forum if I was going to volunteer. Unfortunateley, I don't think I could devote the necessary time. I'll try to contribute when I have something to say.

Ken,

I also have a recommendation on how movies should be rated. The Joey M 4 star rating scale 8). I figure it's contraversial enough to warrant a seperate thread which I'll start some other time. I suggested it before but I was shot down by another member (who was a maniac and now banned from multiple forums).
