Thanks for the feedback guys.

Kyrill,
Yes, 115V.  Thanks for looking out.

Best,

A couple of tweaks to the board based on testing by mgalusha and myself:

The traces have been moved to the bottom for best solder connection and in case anyone decides to drill holes out large (this is why they are now green).  The cap holes have been slightly increased in size.  While all of the spec'ed caps fit the original sizes, this will allow a bit more flexibility in case anyone wants to use other caps.  This forced a visual change since I replaced a built-in cap layout item with a hand-made one and the silkscreen looks a bit different.

As we finalize our tests, I'm prepping the group buy post, so it will be a copy-and-paste once we've signed off.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for some really good work. I will be in for one complete kit, maybe two.

I would like to point out a typo in the silkscreening: "proejct".

My apologies, if you have already fixed it. It certainly is not my intention to nitpick.

Again, thanks for your efforts, and to others who contributed to the Felix project.

Regards,

Ashok

Thanks for the note Ashok.  I've been so busy lately that I totally missed that.  I can't believe I've stared at that board for as long as I have and not seen it.   :oops:

It will be corrected.

Mine went together just fine and is happily feeding my HD DVR and it may be wishful thinking but the picture seems noticeably better. Sharper and most importantly better black and shades of black. This is similar to the effect I found with the point to point Felix I put in the DCX crossover.

Big thanks to Brad for taking this on. For the folks who don't want to dead bug a Felix this is the way to go.  :thumb:

Hello;

  I have been reading the Felix thread with interest. Could someone explain what is the function of the Felix? Where would one apply the Felix ( i.e. to which piece of audio equipment) Can it be used in conjunction with other conditioning type devices?

Thanks;
BN

All I know is Felix functions as an AC line filtering through an array of common choke and mirror of some X1 or X2 capacitors. Correct me if I am wrong. In my system Felix does an excellent job without constricting the sound like other big brand name PCs I used to own.

If you need to understand more about Felix you can read this if you have not done reading

hi BradJudy,

Sorry for the late input, but I was just wondering if it is worthwhile adding a couple of extra holes on the input and output to allow the use of spades or 2 or 4 way terminal blocks. This would make the PCB more generic - appealing to more people.

This simple addition would allow phase reversal experiments to be done easily and if the Felix was used internally for an amp, 2 transformers could be connected directly.

I won't mention fuses or earth connections.  :green:

Greg,

There was a board design thread which included discussion of the items you have mentioned (in fact, a ground line was in the original design and removed due to the feedback).  At this stage, I'm considering it closed to any additions and it is only being adjusted to make sure everything fits.  Doing a major change or addition would necessitate another prototype run which would cost another $200.

This iteration is not intended to be the end-all-be-all of Felix boards and it could certainly be expanded if someone wishes to do so.  I have posted the PCB file in the other thread, so anyone can work directly from that if they wish.

A word to those uncertain about the Felix and its purpose.  This board is intended for those who know what they are doing and are comfortable with the potentially dangerous ramifications.  To be honest, I don't want anyone who is unsure about the concept, their skills or safety to buy these.  I'm making no money here and I don't want to inherit tech support duties or liability.

Late on the scene WRT Felix.  If you're happy to supply, I will take 10 boards, probably all with parts... just need to figure out what I need.

Sorry about that. I hate when people don't follow threads properly. Guess I hate myself now. :green:

Sorry this is lagging a bit guys, but things have been busy and were made more so by a car accident this weekend.  Hopefully I can get back to this soon.

Have you seek to get a treatment yet? I suggest you do ASAP.

I was the only one involved in the accident and I'm uninjured other than a couple of bruises.  While my car is functional, it isn't safe to drive and is awaiting an insurance estimate.

Mike, I don't know what Sunday was like on the south side of town, but it was nasty here around 7-9am.  If I hadn't had an important, time-sensitive event, I wouldn't have tried driving.

Hello;

   I would like 5 boards, possibly 10 depending on final price. Also parts, probabaly a mixture of X1/X2, colicraft & miller. Thank-you

Hopefully I'll post the group-buy thread tonight.  I've been catching up with a lot of stuff, so it has taken longer than I expected to get back to this project.  On the plus side, I think I pushed through the early part fairly well.
