Occam the Felix Hijacker

The fact that folks here hijack GBB's thread to tout their friend's products, speaks well for their loyalty, but also belies their limited understanding of filter theory/implementation.

Just like you hijacked the idea for the Felix.

Let me be the first to congratulate Dan / jhm731 on his perspicacity in catching our own Occam out.
I am shocked, just shocked to learn that Occam hijacked the Felix.  In fact I am going to be extra vigilant
and make sure all my doors and windows are locked in case Occam should be tempted to hijack my Felixs.
You can't be too careful these days.

Dan - I salute you .

Of course I did, you silly goose.
I've made no secret of the fact that the my inspiration was the PS Audio Ultra Outlet, and then the Dezoral filters, and later the Audience Adept.

It was the pictures of the PSAudio UO's innards, on their website, that made me realize that the use of a CMC wound on Type 26 reduced carbonyl iron would provide not only common mode inductance, but useable amounts of differential (leakage) inductance for the attenuation of transverse mode noise.

Similarly, when DVV posted about his DeZoral, and made a proud point of saying there was no mains ground involvement, I posted exactly what he must be doing. This ain't rocket science, mack.

And lastly, reviews of the Audience Adapt, showed with the permission of Audience, the innards. All of this can be verified, and the acknowledgement by me, by appropriate searches on AC.

Indeed, I've actually known that Anthony at Aberdeen Components / MauiMods used the ComboCoils for a few years. He posted pictures on his website. But before I could suss out who made them, he told me, in confidence. Because he disclosed this to me, I made no mention of them. Now when Gordy found them totally independently from his own efforts, built his own Felix using them, and discussed them with GBB, and they both subsequently disclosed their benefits on the Lab Board, I'm really in no position to prevent the public discussion and disclosure of these components. I certainly don't dispute that Anthony was incredibly clever in finding these components and implementing them very well, but that in no way diminishes the facts that Gordy and GBB did the same independantly, albeit afterwards.

I've publically posted the antecedents of the Felix conditioner, just as I acknowledged Jon Risch's work as the inspiration which I subsequently enhanced into the Felicia's balancing feature. If you've ANY issues with my integrity, take it up with the Great Hall. :P

EDIT - I'm the one who split JHM's post into its own thread and gave it the smartass title 8)

I remembered when I listen to my musics my son came up to me and nicely asked: "Dad can I hear the Sharing song of Jack Johnson?"

The concept of this thread is SHARING to help DIYers or people who "wanna-be DIYers." Firstly to save some money and secondly to learn some experiences. Please let us live in a peaceful community of "Listening Good Musics."  :thumb:

Thanks,

Dear Mr. "smartass" forum moderator, if you got the info about the Coilcraft parts from Anthony you should have acknowledge it.

PS- I don't have any issues with your integrity. Your posts make it very obvious that you don't have any.

jhm731,

What is the point of this thread; how to post adversely and defensive.
What a fool am I....thought I would find a new Felix design that could prevent hijacking of my AC mains; designed by Occam of course.
Hence, "The Lab"

Jeff,

I think you've got the makings of a great article for Tone Audio! Expanding a bit on my above quote, Gary has been IMO, very clever in making a power conditioner for a very specific application, filtering the switching supply provided for the Squeezebox; he has traded current capability for filtering efficacy.

You might title the article Horses for courses
Build Gary's Felix as described -
http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=50284.0
and compare it to a Running Springs conditioner powering exactly what he intended it for. You could then compare the 2 conditioners on other appropriate source components. You've already done a review on at least one Running Springs conditioner, and been quite enthusiastic about its capabilities. Perhaps you could use that specific model, providing context.

I'm sure the AC community and your readership would be tremendously interested in such an article.
You're the one who posed the question. Are you willing to answer it within the impartiality of your publication?

If you'd like, I could move your post, and my response over to your own Tone Audio circle. Let me know.

You've really posed a GREAT question. :thumb:

Regards,
Paul

If you have read his response, you would already know the answer to your statement.  Paul didn't bring up coilcraft, Gordy did by his own efforts.  Gordy mentioned coilcraft to me and I had come across it before, so I ordered from them as well.  Occam is not the one who brought coilcraft to the front and center so why should he aknowledge Anthony then?

Why would Anythony take such pride and ownership for finding a CMC manufacturer for which a simple google search on common mode chokes brings it up on the first page?  Does he want an award for the completely obvious?  It seems that you are just being fed from Anythony and posting here for him.
