It's the Terratec Phono Preamp Studio USB
Lists for $199 and lets you connect your turntable to your PC for 'digitizing' your vinyl. Sacrilege maybe, but some of my music is only on vinyl and this is a good way to listen to it at work.

A quick check shows the pro music shops have it for about $125.
There's a new one on *bay with buy it now for $119.
Not too bad.
Looks like they make some decent sound cards as well.

Yes, thanks for this, I was just about to compile all my LPs to my computer, mostly for ease of play when waltzing around the house. Also, I need to burn a bunch of the LPs for my dad, since that was the deal.

As cool as this may be, I still think I would rather have the M-Audio USB Audiophile. It is the same thing as the internal M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 card but external via USB connection. This should provide even lower noise floor. It has a gamut of inputs and outputs including RCA input/outputs and SPDIF digital. It doesn't have phono level inputs but you can just use your existing phono preamp into the line level inputs and voila.
The reason I like it better is due to its more flexible use and I would likely use this a lot more, for more than just vinyl archiving. Plus it is powered via AC not USB which is suppose to lower noise quite a bit. The terratec phono usb is powered via USB.

My existing phono preamp is built into my receiver, which doesn't have L/R preamp outs.
I got sniped on the auction at the last minute.....
Time to build a bugle, I guess

Brad;
If your receiver has no preamp outputs you can always use the tape outputs.
cheers

I'm kinda between systems right now and just using the receiver to get by.
I will probably go ahead and get a good phono stage when I rebuild.
The USB device would let me enjoy my vinyl for now (and at work through iTunes)
