Hi all,

Anyone know of this Audio Experience Symphonies V2R with remote tube line preamp $448" preamp? It is listed on Audiogon. Sounds like a killer deal, but wanted to know more about this one first.

Thanks.

Ray

Hey Ray, a friend of mine from another forum owns one and says it sounds good.I just read a post on the Agon forum that claims that the pre's leak DC and send certain amplifiers into protection mode. Caveat Emptor :o

Ray, there's been a bit of talk about this preamp over at Audiogon and I think I remember some at the Asylum as well. The consensus seems to be that it's cheaply built and not a great performer as it comes from the factory. However, I've read of those who went through it and made higher grade parts substitutions and it emerged a suposedly much better performer. Personally, I can't imagine why I'd take a chance on a product that has no stateside support system when I could buy a nice used preamp of a known quality with for about the same price. A search of their archives would be worthwhile if you want to research it further.

Hi Photon46,

This is the kind of stuff I'm looking for. If it's built like crap, don't want it. Thanks for the headsup.

Reading in the forum, yes this problem did occur. But according to the manufacturer, it has been rare like twice or so in the last 3 years. There is one of the two coupling caps you remove, problem solved. That one I don't know about, which cap to remove.

I too am looking to upgrade to a tube preamp/ SS amp setup in a couple of months and the Ming Da MC 7R has bought my attention. It looks very well made for a very good price. Response Audio also mods them as well.

I just received my Mapletree Line 2A SE this past week. Want to know how much difference it made with my 2-channel music? I'm using only a little iPod Nano as my source since my Denon 2900 universal player is acting up...and it's the best sound I've ever had with my system. It's built very well, and Dr. Peppard of Mapletree is a really great guy to deal with. So far, I'm thrilled with the product.  :thumb:

Hello gus6464, the Ming-Da MC-7 is a very good valued preamp right out of the box. Unfortunately, I just received word from Pacific Valve that they are out of stock on this unit and should have more in about 2 weeks.

I only mention this as Pacific Valve has received orders for our modded unit only to find out they are back-ordered.

I just noticed that there's an Eastern Electric MiniMax preamp for sale here. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=50165.msg450180;topicseen#new
I'm presently an owner of one and I also feel that its a jewel that's very adaptable through tube rolling and build quality is simply first rate.  I like mine very much.
