Yes, funny. I have had it off several times, cant see anything wrong with it really. There is only one way to mount it, the rod from the volume pot has like a little recessed hole in it where the screw needs to be.
When you grab the volume control with two fingers and very gently rock it, then it is loose. It can move from side to side.
