That's the only place I prefer, by a wide margin, shielded cables over unshielded. Twisted pairs (Kimber, Alpha-Core, etc) are not enough either...it needs copper foil, lots of it, to keep those meager cartridge voltages intact without additional noise riding on it into your preamp.
With line level components, the slightly 'stressed' sound imparted by shielding isn't needed...and I prefer
unshielded (but don't currently use any unshielded IC's).
Shielding is generally a very good thing when it comes to cartridge signals, tho.
I'm a little further out from San Francisco than Sonny/Tuan is......but shielding with every cable, including power cords and speaker cable, was a very good thing when I lived in Washington DC about 500 yards from the main TV and Radio towers for the region

Whatever extra I had to spend on shielded cables all around was made up for the fact that I didn't at all need to subscribe to cable...regular TV channels were hi-quality with just rabbit ears on a 20" TV back then
