I love it! But I find that it is  complex I'm gonna have to really get to know it first, if I'm ever
gonna be able to defend the cash I sunk into this purchase! After all, I'm just a hobby shooter, at best!

Imageshack is down at the moment.. ?? so I can't upload images to show you but...
I was able to upload that ceramic owl here yesterday, but today it's not able to upload!!
What ever...
I'm still waiting for my lens filter to arrive so I can take the cam outside...
It's just so much flower dust and what you call it. I'd have to clean my lens afterwards.
So I want a filter on it, a Hoya 67mm I believe I'm getting some time later in the week.

Then I'll go out into the sun and get some nice shots!

I'm still busy reading the manual... and I'm gonna watch these vids first also.
Canons online 40D tutorial!!!

Yup...  :thumb:

I'll start to post pictures soon, I promise!  :D

Hm.. I've still not yet purchased a lens filter for my camera.

So what kind of lens filter should I buy?
I was thinking about a Heliopan UV SH-PMC 67 mm filter.
Would that be the best "clear" UV filter I could get for my 17-85 IS USM Canon lens?

A Hoya HMC Super "multi-coated" has been procured!  :thumb:
Thanx for the navi-gating of the array... sort of speak!  :D

Ok, It's on the lens, but it had a spec of dust on it, in the box!!! Yikes!  :o

I cleaned it, but still, that was a bummer!!!

If there's one thing more certain than death and taxes, it's dust in camera bits  :o

I usually keep the dust on on lenses and filter....I think pretty soon the dust-on-lens is going to be the new vasaline trick

I never worry about dust...even on the sensor.  It is rarely visable in the image.  Likewise with UV filters.  While they do offer a measure of protection for your front element, a lens hood actually offers as good if not better protection for most of the banging around abuse a lense is likely to receive.  If you do use a UV then the quality of the filter should match the quality of the lense.

Does anyone know how to change the exposure compensation?  All I could find was the flash exposure compensation.

First real test of cam: File: Large Jpeg "L" file original file. "P" mode shooting at 3 or 4fps I believe. (4 - 500'th of a second shutter)
I still lack the extra battery grip, to push the fps to 6.5 Raw/sRAW speeds. But is has been ordered!!  :thumb:

At nine month, now, already a speed machine!!! He's 89 lbs!!! I've got muscle pain from being dragged all over
the place by this very strong youngster! :thumb: But OH MY what a immense speed this animal has!
Dobes aren't usually so fast sprinters, but this one is, he surely is!!  :hyper: (0 - 30+ mph ... 3 seconds? Looks like it!)
I tried several 4 - 6.5 fps runs on this dog. And it is NOT fast enough!!! He manages to move so fast that I guess one must have like 15 fps to see what he does sometimes!!! Zoom! I had no idea how fast a dobe can move!!! No wonder they are called "cat killers..."
Now, don't worry, This boy has grown up with cat's and won't hurt 'em, so..  :D

I might as well talk a little bit about how this boy is being trained, as it is rather smart!  :thumb:
The harness is so that he can pull all the time, and the angle of attack if you will, targets some special muscle groups, creating a
specialized training for his running, turning, and jumping muscle groups.
I'll add a close up of his hind legs here:

Why this muscular at 9 months? Well, it is because he must have it before 18 months or his body simply could not take the strain at a
later age. All this must happen before 18 months, after that a Dobe is "finished".
He receives muscle massage some 3 times a day and a lot of pampering. I had no Idea one HAS to do this with a dog destined to be a
Cop dog, as this is the goal with this dog.  :o Anyway. What a bleeding strong psyche this boy has! He does not have fear at all!
Just amazing! I wish I was like that!!  :thumb:
I've been ordered to start lifting weights if I'm to be allowed to handle this dog in the future (By my brother, owner + handler of King, a very special Dobe... Indeed!!!). He will be so strong that a normal person below 200 lbs simply can't stop him from moving forward. I'm gonna start training! Wow! What a fantastic dog!!!  :thumb:

The grayscale Black/White balance on the 40D seems to absolutely shatter even the Nikon's D300!
I've found that the colors are "real", but that they are ever so less vibrant than on a bigger Nikon cam.
You can compensate for this of course, but that is something to remember.
I think the 40D needs the VERY best lenses one can put on it, to really max out! Nikon's seem to be more responsive.. Sharper somehow
already from intermediate lenses.
I've tried looking on the pictures from my cam now on a lot of screens and computers (Imacs, Macbooks, Mac Pro's and some laptops and computers) It shows the same really...  It's DEAD neutral.. provides a perfect midpoint on all aspects...
It has a little less perceived "contrast" compared to say a D80 or a D300 (What cam doesn't...) But still!

And now for the REAL clincher for a 40D... it has 39 million shades of color!!! (14 bit) 16.7 million Red, +16.7 million Green + 16.7 million blue + 65 thousand black/White/grey shades! No other cam at 10.1 megapixel has this. So the reality of the colors are just immense!!! WYSIWYG!!!

High bit color is a good thing for internal processing headroom and such, but remember that you're not actually seeing it as all monitors are 8-bit.  Ultimately you'll end up with an 8-bit sRGB image to show the world.  Of course there's a gazillion articles and debates out there you can read about gamuts, bits, color spaces and whatnot; but IMHO that's time which could be better spent pursuing the ultimate dog ass shot! :)

So.. you want a ass shot of the dog now, Boobs not good enough for ya is it
?
You dirty...  :thumb:
Ok!!! I have 182 pictures of "King" so I'll pick one that is ass needed.

Right. A monitor and all that. But still, one does get the impression after a while what a 40D can do...
I do look into raw as well, and really. It is something that can't be conveyed at forum posts.. The 40D is
SHOCKINGLY good... at least I think, at RAW it is amazing!!! Jpeg, is'nt half bad either, but RAW... Oh F***!!!   :o
I cannot imagine what D700 must be like, the Nikon...

Ass picture:

Bow wow!

Is my brother inzanely strong to be able to just lift a dog of 89lbs in full attack mode with just one arm? Oh you have no idea man!!!
