The has to be something better than damp towels to dust off components?  I would love to hear what others out there are using to keep their stuff dust free!

I have the same question. was planning on cleaning the dust off of my bookshelf speakers...the grilles are off. plan is just a damp cotton towel. would like to know if something else is more gentle out there especially the driver cones. maybe a certain microfiber used for car detailing would work.

I think I will pick up some pledge for the speaker cabinets.

And damp towel on the electronic enclosures too. and a few blasts of dust off.

I hate that during winter the heater kicks up the dust.

I just use one of those feather duster thingies when my wife yells loud enough that I have to clean up. Then I run a vacuum and am good for the next 6 months  :-)

I use the Pledge Fluffy Duster. It’s very soft so does not scratch and dirt sticks to it.

Check it out here www.pledge.com/duster-plus.aspx

The one I use does not have the spray it’s just the duster.

If Pledge could just mass produce those at low cost.... THEN you'd have something!

i'll either blow it off with:

...or i'll use the swiffer. it's great for getting in underneath components too.

I use the Billybags audio duster. It's a black sheepskin duster that works wonders. Be careful when using wax based polishes on wood grained speakers. The grain can get full of the wax and you will loose some of that nice wood finish. There are many manufacturers that actually state in their owners manuals not to use polishes that contain wax

Damp cloth works for me. No wax, maybe very mild detergent & water for hard to get off spots (finger prints on brushed aluminum). I use the same type towel that I use to clean my glasses with.

I use an ostrich feather duster every week. You can stir up a good air flow to scatter dust out of areas that are hard to reach with it. Somethimes I blow out the undersides with canned air.

I use windex on anodized aluminum and Meguier's Cleaner Wax on my loudspeakers 9 coat polyurethane finish. It protects the finish from UV that might get through the windows in the room. I apply the Mequiers once a year and use a damp cloth for dusting the rest of the time followed by
dry towel. I vacuum the midrange and woofer driver cones as needed the planer magnetic tweeter I leave alone.

You get points for your honesty dude!

I use compressed air and a blow gun. Not the wimpy canned stuff, I mean a compressor. Certain areas require a lighter touch like driver cones and cooling fan blades but it works well. The best part is you're not touching the item leaving scratches.
On a nice day, I'll open all of the doors and windows and dust the entire room with this method. Works well.

I use a brush with horse hair and it works fine! As for my Altmann Attraction DAC, I use a hair dryer set to "cool" and simply blow the dust from the DAC!
