I've owned one of those and it's a great piece of gear. It was my first foray into an EL84.

good luck. but, if you are using efficient speakers & only need 5wpc, don't be surprised if you find yourself looking for another a205a mkll...   8)

is it SEP?  That is the only way I know to get 5w from a single EL84.

lin, i would suspect you're right, as the almarro a205a mkll (later iterations, at least), has taps for 8 & 16 ohm speakers.  i have never tried 4 ohm speakers w/my amp.  but, if i had a pair of 4 ohm hi-efficiency speakers, i would definitely query almarro about using this amp to drive them, because it really is a nice amp...

Doug,
I just sold an earlier model (which I was very fond of, but too many amps) that was rated for 8 and 16 also, they are not really optimized for lower imp.
I posted because I saw in another thread that you were using a 205  to drive your Fostex FEs in series and before I was wondering (from a pic you posted) why you were not running the two drivers in parallel.

running them in series presents a 16 ohm load to the amp;  if i were to run them in parallel, the amp would see a 4 ohm load...

i know the almarro a205a mkll isn't optimized for 4 ohm loads; when i suggested querying almarro, it's cuz they might have a work-around, short of getting some of those outboard speltz auto-formers...
