Has anyone used a RWA Amp with the Slim Devices Transporter?

I'm using the Transporter to access my music library which is stored on a NAS on my network. I'm routing my CD player through the Transporter's DAC so I now will only have one input to my integrated amp.

I'm thinking of re-deploying the integrated amp and routing the Transporter directly into a 30.2 without the volume control. Maybe a pair of 70.2's if I can justify the expense. I'm driving a pair of PSB Platinum M2 speakers. They have a 4 Ohm impedance.

Any comments?

I am using a stock sqeezebox feeding a Monarchy Audio dac into a signature 30.  It is an outstanding combination that keeps getting better and better as time passes.

Hi boxerboy,

Welcome to Audiocircle and the RWA forum.

Yes, you can feed the analog output of the Transporter (or Squeezebox) directly into a Signature 30.2 power amp (or 70.2 monoblocks) and use the built-in volume control feature of the Transporter/Squeezebox.... this will work very well!

Either amplifier will have no trouble driving your 4-ohm PSB speakers.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions about this.

Happy New Year!

Vinnie

I am using Signature 30 with the Slim Devices (now Logitech) Transporter.  I use it in a small den (10' x 10') and use DeVore Gibbon Super 8 speakers.  I spent hundreds of hours this year listening to magically pure sound this combination produces.  Listening to pieces like Haley Westenra's "Danny Boy", Cat Power's "The Greatest", or Borodin's String Quartet No. 2 on this combo during sunset is priceless...

FYI:  Transporter has output attenuation jumper you can select to limit unbalanced analog output (page 26 of Owner's Guide).

Hi Ken,

Welcome to Audiocircle and the RWA forum!

Thanks for posting about your Transporter + Signature 30 combo (and the speakers are a nice choice too)!  :thumb:

Glad to hear you are enjoying your system.

Happy New Year / Happy Listening!

i am planning the same
my 30.2 is in the pipeline ( i hope a bit in the end of the pipeline)

and my SB3 is in its modding phase
the best mod,  but i cant afford it at the moment is to order Steve's ( Empirical audio)
Pacemaker for the SB. the SB then, does not need any other modification( power supply mods are not necessary any more)
SO i take another route
a little mod at the S/Pdif out  from Pat (http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=45330.0)
and i pass for the expensive pws mods from BoulderCable and choose the more reasonable priced also very good pws from Paul Hynes
( http://www.paulhynesdesign.com/page7.html )

My question is what are reasonable priced interconnects for such a world amp as the 30 and 30.2?
I need musicality and transparency and pace, actually a cable which completely supports the very qualities of Vinnie's amps. They exist but also at reasonable prices? reasonable to me is under 300 dollar for 3 feet. If one of you have good suggestions for a DiY cable? Or a retail product but at audiogon's more reasonable prices?

Also, the Omegaudio R-Interconnect:
